Hello footose

First of all, I just wanna say that you have a nice car. And some of us do know stuff about VWs. I have read about your car but I was on the TSR forums and some guy mentioned that you have run 20psi on stock internals, upgraded ko4, stock fuel pump, pump gas, no intercooler, no other fuel mods except for injectors and a chipped ecu. Is this information correct? Cause I find this hard to believe. Anyways I'd love to check out your car some time.

Hey whats up =D

You know, everyone says stuff about other peoples rides.... espically around here i noticed.. jealously usually brings out the worst in people, and unfortunatly leads to 'rumours' about peoples cars. I've heard stories about MY car from other people and races that i've been in that weren't even true... not to mention races ive apparntely lost, yet never actually raced LOL.

I don't believe a WORD people say about someone elses car until I talk to the owner of that car!

ANYWAY!.. My engine internals are completely stock, the car comes with a small side mount intercooler from the factory which has plastic end caps (unfortunatly prone to cracking and heat soak). everything about the engine internals is stock. I run 91 Octance pump gas from petro canada .. although through 93 in there on weekends

I do however have the following mod's to the car.

K04-001 Turbo Charger, which is a decendent of the Audi TT K04 turbo, only a smaller inlet pipe. Basically it's an aftermarket turbo that bolts right onto my manifold and downpipe without changing them.

Neuspeed Turbo Inlet, signicantly bigger to let more air into the turbo.

Upsolute K04 Software (Version 7) This software controls my FUEL only, and not my boost unfortunatly, they couldn't program a chip with the boost i wanted to run.

Audi TT Fuel Rail
Audi TT Fuel Pressure Regulator
Porsche Fuel Injectors

Basically, I run 20PSI around town and sometimes 23 PSI if i know im going out to "race" someone... the thing is.. with these 'german' (actually borg warner makes these turbos "K" models) they are considerably smaller than lets say.. a T3/T4 turbo... So technically, my turbo running @ 22PSi is the equivalant of say running 10 PSI in a T3/T4 style turbo. There are actually people out there running 400 WHEEL horsepower w/ stage 3 and nitrious (T3/t4 is stage 3 on these cars) w/ say a stage 7 compressor blade... on stock internals.. Do a serach on www.VwVortex.com for the name BillyT. He has some crazy mod's on stock internals and just recently hit 450 HP.

although, Since custom manifolds/ fueling/ downpipes etc are required for a T3/T4 to be fitted onto these cars (unlike say a talon) it's pretty rare that you would see this configuration..thats why i went with a smaller k04 turbo that botls right up without a problem. It took me about 8 hours to do in the garage... I've attached a picture @ the bottom to show you actually how small this turbo is in comparision...

Neuspeed Short Shifter
3" Brullen Turbo Back Exhaust
HKS SSQV (Blow off Valve)
HKS Turbo Timer Type 0
Kamei Sport Grille
17x8 Miglia Action
In.Pro Clear Tails
AIWA CDC-MP3 Deck
2 - 12" MTX
Alpine V12 200W*2Ch
Mirror Tint
VDO BoostGuage
Euro Switch
Rear Fog Light Mod
Vag-Com

Needless to say, I park the car in the garage at night time because my black golf had been stolen prior to owning this one!

If you wanna get together and shoot the **** , maybe grab a coffee i can show you exactly what i've done and take you for a spin if you want..as long as you take me in your ride =D

here's the turbo.. and a boost graph incase you still find me running 23 psi hard to believe

and honestly, im not an *******, so if you ever see me say hi!! Whenever i see guys on the street (modifed cars) i give a wave but usually they draw me a dirty look... heheeh i donno why!!! i think im pretty nice and i always stop if someone asks me about my car... and always comment about others nice rides!

I remember i raced a CRX and he beat me brutally, i donno what he had done to it but it must've been something serious because im not shy of about 250hp right now... anyway....i rolled my window down to ask him what he had done and he just totally ignored me .. i found it really rude.!!at

is it a white crx with the front end that looks like a fish?

or was it brown with white body kit and rims?

One of the guy's i work with , brother has that car i described above, he put a 01 prelude engine in it with alot of cool stuff. He recently got it painted all white.

Did I do this wrong?

If 1 mbar = 0.001 bar
Then 2500 mbar1 = 2.5 bar

And 1 bar = 14.7psi
Then 2.5 bar = 36.75psi

2500 mbar = 36.75 psi

Thats 36psi from approx. 4000rpm up to 6000.

At 3000rpm its at 18psi.

Your forgetting that atmoshpheric pressure is 1 bar

so you have to subtract 1 bar from it..actually 1.15 bar i believe it is... beacuse the software that calculates that for us VW's (Vagcom.. www.ross-tech.com) also add's in the atmohpheric pressure ) sorry, that was sortamissleading, so it's just about 23 PSI for that run ..

Let's say for talking sakes the pressure in the air is about 1000mbar, or 1bar.... (because in kitchener its between 990mbar and 1150mbar)...

If 1 mbar = 0.001 bar

Then 1000mbar = 1 bar

Then 2500 mbar1 = 2.5 bar

and 2500 mbar - 1000 mbar = 1500 mbar

And 1 bar = 14.7psi

Then 1.5 bar = 22.05psi

Thats 22.05psi from approx. 4000rpm up to 6000.

Re: Got spanked by a fuggin' GOLF!

Hey Pizza boy, it's me again

you should really get your car fixed so you don't lose to Eurotrash again!!

I don't think we should compare a sentra SER to a 250 hp vw golf, because I beat a new sentra not too long ago... they even stopped at the next light, congradulated me and asked me what I had under the hood.

for those not aware:

1984 GSL-SE
45K on reman motor, stock
RB header, crappy cat back / midas / mustang / tin cans welded, bolted, held on with coat hangers... etc.
Spark plug wires, and a 7 year old dirty cone filter which isn't even K&N.
135 hp & torque stock... so maybe 135 at the wheels if I'm lucky. my car weighs about 2700 I think

I have been beaten by the newest corrado, back in the day. I think it was chipped, and pulling over 200hp, but that was with my old tired engine... so I'd like to see what I can do against a new GTI.

I have raced a slightly modded integra GSR with about 185 - 190 hp he said. I won first run, he won next, not by much though.

today I just test drove a V70R (AWD, low pressure 240 hp volvo station wagon) and it was fast!!! if would have whooped my 7, and TII's easy.

when I eventually get my high pressure turbo volvo... watch out chris!!! ha ha

p.s. Rich, does having a headach and feeling like crap affect the performance of your car? I find when I'm constipated, my car is much slower

but if I've got the runs.... look out vipers, here I come!!! muhaha (sorry will, I needed to use it)

also, rich, if your car IS running like crap.... don't race cars if you don't want to lose

(I'm only joking with ya rich)

Now, at this point, let me point out that the plugs in my car are beyond fucked - the electrodes on at least one are melted down. Plus my front diff mount is broken and the K&N air filter needs to be cleaned. Still, she's been driving just fine... Tough girl.

that didn't exactly improve my day. Anyway, just wanted to share a story and maybe expunge some of my disgust.

Hahaha nice car. LOL
Anyway if you weren't giving it all then you are pretty fast. I didn't mean to dis your ride when I said we kept up pretty well just didn't know you weren't giving it all. Anyway I think you car would look much nicer without them taillights but I guess everyone has their own opinions. I think I know which CRX you're talking about. He has an all motor B16a1 and his fastest time was 13.0 if I remember correct. Yes he did blow that motor.
LOL..hehe i donno man, i honestly don't ever remember racing a guy with your car specs..so it probably wasn't me..i was just teasin ya

I donno, I kinda like the way my car is all silver.... the lights aren't "altezzas" they are just clear, and they are made by the factory that makes the factory lights for our cars... but to each his own

Hey footose, so you know alot about VW engines?
I ran an stock Audi 2001 1.8T from a 60km/h roll up to 180km/h ish. We were side by side up to 3rd gear (maybe I got an inch or 2 on him), then I pulled away slowly in 4th.

How fast are the A4 stock? Am I slow for running even with him?

btw, we both have 1/2 tank of gas, he was alone and I had a passenger.

I know quite a bit about the 1.8T motor from audi / vw, and some info on the other VW engines ..

The stock A4 is realtivly fast. Since there were 2 motors avalible in 2001 (to my knowledge) in 1.8T form, you can have the 150hp one or the 180hp one. I believe that they both run anywhere from 14.9 to 15.9 depending what car. I know that if they are the quattro version of the car then it's only 150hp up to that date (Again, I only know VW models personally, but I'm pretty sure on this you can correct me if im wrong).. anyway, if it was AWD (All Wheel Drive) they are a ltitle slower in the top because of drivetrain power loss. But all and all it's a realitivy fast car for a sedan.

I have a feeling the guy needs to chip it though =)

Ah, I get now. So the 36psi is absolute pressure and the 22psi is gauge pressure. I'm a believer, I'm a believer! I've heard many times how capable the 1.8T is but on relatively stock fuel system? What about ignition control? Has that been adjusted with the chip?

Fuel and Boost is controlled by the chip, along with ignition control (there is no "distributor" on these cars) ..it's all electronic, thats why chips are like $500 - $1500 bux.

Fuel isn't really a problem, I'm actually running RICH with the stock fuel pump and injectors but it's because i have a 4bar regulator, im going back to the 3bar for the winter because I'll turnthe boost down.. the 4 bar was just so i could avoid detonation.

My car is actually going up for sale on monday, I'm starting a new "project"

Hey guys, here is a link with a guy running (or.. ran) 550hp @ the crank on stock 1.8T Internals.

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=573803

He just recently blew the motor, he states that 400- 450 is 'safe' on the stock internals.

This is the guy that i was telling you about. Pretty much the "master" of the 1.8T motor.

Lol, I'd like to see you hold your own against a 550hp VW.

Who really gives a **** anyways if so and so's RX-7 can or can't beat so and so's VW in a race - that's not the real reason we really drive our respective cars, is it? That's not the reason I love my RX-7
