Thanks, Jim your the man!
I spend my day trolling the internet, but those days are gone. Got a contract job today, so much for retirement. 20 hours a week, same money I made before, work from home , bonus suckers.

Someone please take a video of the tricky points OP mentioned, and update us with a link.

Would be invaluable as a refresher for even those who've done a few rebuilds.

Thank you.

Rich,
I was using Precision Turbo, reason being they helped me out though JRP, Garrett would be my 1st choice but if a budget build is what your after you will find Precision to be more cost effective.
What are your goals / plans?

It was an amazing informative session on tearing down a motor, lots of tips and things to look for when tearing a motor apart. I'll upload the pictures I took but unfortunately my phone ran out of space early on in the tear down, but I'll post what I did take later today or tomorrow.

Thanks Jim for holding such an event, the knowledge you're passing on is priceless, and it was great meeting the rest of you guys (Matt, Rick, Jay), we all got hands on with the tear down, even though too many hands on 1 thing meant us trying to get a side seal spring out that was already out LOL.

Still, it was lots of fun and very informative, great guys and a great teacher (quote Jim "I'm not a teacher"), lol.

Your all welcome, it was really a pleasure having the first session with a group that was so enthused about learning the first steps in the process.
Matt, door is always open to you.... taking pictures would be fine if you think it will be educational and helpful to others wanting to use this thread as reference to doing their own engine work, also for who ever wants to get involved in making this thread a part of the community for the future. If there are any others (1 or 2 ) that have a keg to open up then we could do a few more “opening a engine” sessions before we move on to the next steps. PM me if anyone is willing to donate their engine for research, just remember you will have to take all the pcs. with you when were done

I know this is late lol, but big thanks to jim for giving us our first steps on what to do when rebuilding these engines. We really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to show us the ropes. It was a great experience and I would love to do it again!

S/O to Matt, chas, and rick these are some great guys that are driven to learn about these motors nice to meet you guys.

Here are some pic's from the tear down.

Thanks for the donation ROTRY PWR
Here is a list of the next four people in line for a "opening a engine" session..... then the next two will be with the same people 1st group then 2nd group on cleaning and inspection followed by two building sessions.

June 21st 12 noon until done:

number8
OsterFD3S
"Ryuji"
sctRota

Please let me know ASAP if any of the above can not make it. This should take most of the summer to complete and will determine if there is a need to continue any further.

Excellent!
I am currently booked on a flight home that is scheduled to land at 2:45pm. . . . But I will have it changed to an earlier flight first thing in the morning! The "early" one is in at 11:30. . . . So, I'll be fresh off the plane. . . but I'll be there!

JDK, you are a god sending angel! I want to join the next tutorial session for sure! I'm so glad to see some experienced guys like you in my neighborhood offering help to the fellow RX7 enthusiasts. I live in Mississauga too (Winston Churchill & Eglinton). Just bought my 88vert 2 weeks ago. Eventually planing on doing a S4 Turbo swap. If you like, I could really use some guidance and help from a veteran like you when it comes to the hands on stuff. I've been doing a lot of research on internet and watched a whole bunch of rebuild video. I got some general idea about the job, but still not confident enough about all the details. Anyhow, I would really like buy you a beer sometime and discuss my project with you. I will drop you a PM. Looking forward to hear from you. Alex

Sadly, my level of dedication isn't understood by the "nice" people at Air Canada who have already over sold the earlier flight. . . .But will "advise me of any changes in the flight status" so, I'm not hitting the ground until 2:45pm Saturday
Unless a rotary miracle happens. . I'll be to late.
