It's so funny car are what they are today because of ppl like us how find better ways of making cars, or ways to improve an already good design, look at how much Mazda has learns from us lol.
no but really car are what they are today thanks ppl who had ideas like us, who wanted more gas millage, more top speed then 10km/h, more room for ppl in the back, more power to tow more horses lol. did we get out of hand buy taking this more power and more speed to 200KM/h + I think so. Unless your on a track where you know what your getting your self into, and other know what the risks are then sure Y not. Y not have a law that says all cars needs to be E-tested and need to have a non tampered with speed control/ governor of 130KM/h "well ppl have freedom to do as they please in the country and we can enforce speed laws like that as it would violate the charter of wrights!" and cops would not make enough money not would the government. think about if if the government says ok you have have 1000HP but your car needs to be limited with this device that you must buy and only while your on racing track grounds will it unlock its self via GPS and would limit your speeds to 130KM/h witch is fast enough for any of our Canadian roads. but they will never do that AS GOVERNMENT PPL NEED TO SPEED AS WELL BUT WILL NEVER ADMIT THAT 90% of the are racers that drive worst then 99% of us on rx7club.com

That about covers it. As I recall from a couple of courses in criminology I took back in the day while doing my Sociology undergrad, an interesting thing is that it is common (not a rule, but common) for the same type of people who become "career" criminals to also have much the same sort of background as those who become cops - and yes, that's essentially the playground bully. People who want to have power over others, to be feared and respected, and who tend to lack empathy or respect for others.
Certainly not all police are like this, but it can tend to become ingrained in some police forces, where it becomes the ethic of the force to use force, and to be more concerned with power and authority than with serving the law and citizens. At its worst, it becomes the basis for the sort of dirty cops Hollywood movies are made of, who become a law unto themselves and who abuse their authority and the law, and are more concerned with maintaining appearances than with proper execution of the law and their authority.
Interestingly also, I recall Saskatoon and Toronto being specifically mentioned in texts and lectures as forces in Canada that seemed to have this ethos, over a period of decades (and this mind by a prof who isn't from Canada, or had lived in either of those places to have some sort of axe to grind). Fantino seems to embody that sort of bad cop - one who isn't really concerned about civil liberties or the rule of law, but more with maintaining and expanding the power and authority of the police - and thereby his personal empire and influence - and ruling by fear if not respect ( fear both of the police, and of the criminals if the police aren't given the powers and tools, legal or technological, that they seek); some of his comments regarding protestors and "racers" are very illustrative of such attitudes.
So congratulations to the Ontario Liberal government, who, after Canada's most populous city realized Fantino was a bad choice to head the police and managed to oust him, saw fit to give him sway over Canada's most populous province, so he can infect a much larger pool of police and citizens with his playground bully authoritarian attitudes.
