(Fuel Pump) Solenoid Resister 88 Convertible, where is it? (help)

I am working on installing a S4 engine out of a coupe into a S4 convertible. I have noticed that convertibles do not have the solenoid resistor in the front right corner like the coupes do. I have examined both harness and the convertible appears to just be missing the plug. I can not find it anywhere in the engine compartment and do not see 5 wires missing anywhere on the convertible harness.

I was planning to use the harness on the coupe engine but am unsure what I should do about this now blank plug?

I was hopping that someone else had come across this same situation, any help, suggestions, or information would be appreciated.

Thanks

I also posted in the 2nd gen form which is likely a better place but I rarely check posts there.

I would personally remove the harness from the car that you got the engine from and install it in to the new body so you know everythings there.

I think that is what I am going to attempt to do now. switch the ecu's and use the harness that belongs to the engine.

I believe the difference may have to do with different injectors used in 88?

From what I can tell an 88 coupe also does not have this component.

Jake.......didn't know that you had an 88.

If I remember correctly, the latter half of 88 (build date of 6th month or later) had Hgh Imp. injectors, and therefore, no resistors. (EDIT: check the FSM because there's somethign weird about the cutoff between low and high imp.) As far as the fuel pump resistor itself.......Im not sure without flipping through the FSM of whether or not its part of the injector resistors, or whether its its own little unit.

But as suggested, I'd just fire the harness that was on the engine in there and jumper the test connector like I had it......

Good luck

The 2nd gen Faq has the colour/code for the injectors, i belive all 88's are high imp. Also, you can use the vert ecu as N/a or T2, the only thing you have to do is switch the harness and add a knockbox.

Runs good now

Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Joe:

Fired right up after finding the small fuel leak on the lower fuel hose. Also the fuel pump relay must have been a problem on your shell since I have no problems without the jumper, I believe that the pump is controlled by a relay under the dash and the component in question is just a resistor pack for the injectors.

Thanks for a great engine.
