MB fuel pump issues

Since the weather has warmed up Ive been able to start work on my car again. In the fall I started a thread for my car and here's the link:

https://www.rx7club.com/canadian-forum-42/fd-backfires-loses-power-926027/

Since then I replaced the wiring harness and the vehicle still had problem with the fuel pump circuitry I guess. I thought it had something to do with the ecu and the main harness, however when I got completely stumped I thought I would just see what happens if I wire the fuel pump directly to the battery. It worked perfectly, the car returned to normal instantly.

My question is, what could have been the issue with my car using the original wiring instead of needing to use a direct power supply from the battery? Can anyone help me with understanding what happened? Thank you.

I still don't know where the problem is/was in the wiring of my pump but I rewired it and it works great now. Thank you.

Probably the resistor pack but you did the right thing by rewiring it.
