It Finally Came, It Finally Came (Precision Billett 6765 BB)

After a month of waiting, the turbo has finally arrived just now! I was getting worried I wouldn't have it in time for the DGRR. It's a Precision Billet 6765 ball bearing turbo with a 1.00 divided (turbonetics) housing. Happy dance . I might have to port the turbine housing inlets though since they don't perfectly match the T4 flange for better flow efficiency and no hot spot generation. I'm tired of exhaust leaks.

Don't have goals per say. I plan only to tune it to 16 PSi for the DGRR since I don't want to break a transmission before I go or while I'm there. When I get back I'll tune it to 20 PSi like I had my 500R-SP and then once I get a better water tank I'll go to 25+ PSi and see what happens power wise . I can only say it will be over 500 rwhp, otherwise I have no clue. Nobody has run this turbo in a rotary yet so I can't even guess. I'm always changing things on the car or testing different tunes, so its never the same anyway. All I know is it should have more bang then the 500R-SP. And by compressor and turbine sizes, response should be similiar. I wonder though how much difference a 1.00 will make up top compared to the 0.84 in the 500R-SP.

Looks very nice, I thought you already had a perfect setup. But I guessed wrong, more tinkering always is good eh.

Hows the rx8 project ?

I like my current setup quite a lot. But I needed a new turbine housing and was thinking about building a custom fully divided twin wastegate manifold for even better response so one thing led to another. Decided to buy a new turbo instead, that way I can sell my old kit complete. Also, allows me to try these new billet turbo's and see if the hype is all that.

As for the RX-8, its probably gonna be a while before I get into that hehe. When, I do it, I want to be completely focused on it to do it to my liking.

Well the ***** are rolling now that I have the turbo. Engine is out and I compared my old turbo to the new turbo. Looks like the 500R-SP is actually 65mm (I eyeballed it with a measuring tape, might not be exact) while the 6765 is 67mm. So the compressor is definitely bigger while having a much smaller shaft so the area is much bigger. Should definitely make more power then my current turbo and with the larger A/R will have a nice top-end. Time to set a record in breaking transmissions in a year.

Yup, 33,000 km on the motor in a year and a bit with tons of track days at 16-20 PSi.

There were 2 reasons for opening it up. The first being I want to change to 2-piece ceramic seals instead of the current 1-piece ceramic seals. Second, I'm really curious how it looks inside after all that abuse with the ceramic seals. This was actually the main reason and I had planned to open the motor up last winter before I even knew I was going to change the seals or get a new turbo. I wanted to put ceramic corner seals too but those aren't ready yet.

Motor should be open tomorrow hopefully

I'm excited to see some power numbers from these billet turbos, very exciting to see what the new tech can do!

New Turbo looks awesome. Hope you get it done in time for DGRR as I'd love to see it.
As for a transmission breaking record, I did 6 in my FC in a year, so bring it on.

I'm currently running 750/1600cc injectors but I'm going to be changing to 650/2000cc injectors with the new build so I can have a better idle and throttle transitions as well as increased fuel capacity. I just hope my Denso pump can keep up when I start cranking up the boost. I was just in the 80-85% duty cycle @ 20 PSi with the current setup.

I ran most of the summer without any AI @ 16-17 PSi since I was waiting for my tank to be built. Once the water injection was in, I cranked it up to boost to 20 PSi and ran it like that. I would have cranked up the boost more but my tank wasn't ideal for high speed cornering so it would cut out sometimes, so I left it at 20 to be on the safe side.

Nice. What type of power were you making on a 20b with that turbo? Wouldn't mind hearing the the difference in power too

I have not had it on the dyno yet with this setup, want to get the car tuned this summer and see what it puts down at 15psi on pump gas and 20psi on race.

Im sure yours will put dowm some impressive numbers, you have a very sweet setup!

What ecu are you using?

Don't you think the transition from 650cc to 2000cc is too much ? , I would go with say 650 primaries and then 4 x 1000's or 1200 or 1600 as you have them.

I remember playing with the transition from 550cc-1600cc could been a pain at times.

Do they still sale those cast Lower intake manifolds for the FD ? ( that has 4 secondaries injector bungs ).

That would be ideal for your setup I would think ( plus the runners are fully even on that manifold)

Now I remember, IT's the excessive intake manifold

I already have the Xcessive LIM. I don't think its too much of a problem for the transition but ill find out next week I guess. I've tuned cars with 550/1600 and didn't have a problem with staging the injectors. The PowerFC stages the injectors as the stock computer would and it is tunable to suit your needs for injectors. Going from a 550/1600 to a 650/2000 setup is a very minor difference ratio wise, 2.91:1 to 3.08:1 so I don't foresee any problems with staging.

Also, I don't think 4x1000cc would be any better then 2x2000cc unless you have them staged in 3 phases. When those 4x1000cc's come on, it would be delivering similar amounts of fuel as the 2x2000cc's would with maybe a better spray pattern.

The 2000cc injectors I'm getting are the new Injector Dynamics ones which are supposedly very linear down to low pulse widths. They apparently put them in a stock 1.8 liter 120hp non V-Tec Integra and were able to idle with them. We will see when I try them anyway. Here's some more info on them...

Sounds like you got everything under control, and those new injectors seem awesome. Worth definitely trying them.

post up some reviews about those injectors. I'm looking for some really good quality injectors. Where did you buy them from? Looking for a price on the site with no luck.

They're pretty pricey for injectors at $239 each. I don't think you need injectors that big for your N/A :P.

Is that a P-trim turbine wheel on that turbo? Any chance you can pull of the housing and measure the turbine wheel both major/minor?
