FI gas line leak (need help)
hey all
toyota just deemed my beater unsfae, i guess holes in the floor aren't good. regardless it was in to have the steel fuel lines replaced because they were leaking. now that the car has beeen deemed unsafe, there's no point spending 800 on replacing the lines. so my question is, can i replace the part of the steel line that's leaking with a rubber hose, untill i can find and buy another car
thanks alot
steve

Hmm... Probably not a good idea. 45 PSI is not a tonne, but is pretty substantial.
I had a mechanic splice in some line on my cavalier brakes. Used compression fittings. Worked until I scrapped it. In retrospect, it probably was not the best idea.

high pressure fuel injection hose should work fine in place of the normal steel lines, although i'm not quite sure how it would effect the fuel pulses. if there is a pulsation dampner it should be able to handle it i think...
regardless don't plan on using it like that for long though, it should only be temporary.
