Question Feedback about "Car-O-Practor" in Richmond

Hey Guys,

So we pulled the engine and tranny from Marc's 85GS in prep for paint and found out that Adriatica doesn't do underbodies. They referred us to "CAR-O-PRACTOR" in Richmond to have that done before paint.

Does anybody have any experience with them? are they a reputable shop?

Does anyone else know a shop that will do a "down-to-the-metal" strip of the entire underbody of a car, patch any rust holes and build it back up again?

here's the email I tried to send them, but the email address on their website bounces back as "no such user"

I’m doing a ground-up restoration of a 1985 Mazda Rx7 and was referred to you to have work done on the underside.

What I have in mind is to have the complete underbody stripped of its years of grime and rustproofing, and brought down to the metal. I want every iota of rust identified and removed, and a new protective layer applied (paint or whatever), then have it all re-rust-proofed.

I have already removed the engine and transmission. The remainder of the exhaust that’s on the car (muffler welded to a centre pipe) can be cut off as it is going to be replaced. The car is a rolling chassis that I can trailer down to you. The body paint would be taken care of afterwards by another shop.

Would you folks be up for undertaking this project? And assuming the underbody is already in good shape (meaning no welding/metal work required) what ballpark would we be in for price?

Sorry Joe, we can't trailer this one down to Toronto. I know you've got a good body guy, but we've got to go local for this. However my car's paint comes up next year and you know that I'm considering bringing it down since you guys are also doing my engine rebuild.

The main problem was that once the paint was done, it will still be mid-winter and we don't have a box trailer to keep the car from seeing the elements on its trip home with fresh paint. We actually did talk about bringing the car down but the fact that his dad is the ONLY person we know with a truck that has a towing capacity U-haul will rent a trailer to, and he flat-out refuses to go anywhere out of town, we were **** outta luck. If it wasn't for the 6hr drive and our reliance on rentals and other people's trucks to get things from A to B we'd do it.

Does fearless have a good way of doing underbodies? The paint shops around here aren't equipped with a giant rotisserie or anything like that so most won't even touch it.
