FD coming up at salvage auction in the GTA
Looks like the insurance company wrote it off as not worth fixing.
Other than the damage to the left rear quarter and the dent in the roof, it looks like it was in good shape.
Anyone know the car or its unfortunate owner?

The damage doesn't look like traffic accident damage, and you don't generally see cars had their roof dented in an traffic accident either.
I am thinking something fell on it, like maybe a tree or a tree branch..

Actual Cash Value. What the insurance company says the car was worth before the accident, which combined with the $9k repair bill was the reason they decided to write the car off a s not worth fixing.
The is presently up on an online auction and that auction will culminate with a live auction at noon on August 13th. I believe the purpose of the online auction is to set tohe opening price of the live auction.
You can visit and inspect the car at Copart's facility in Courtice.

When I reviewed the pictures of the damage, I thought somebody was racing it, then spun out and wrecked the rear corner; got out of the car, looked at the damage, took off his helmet and smashed the hood. A tree would do cosmetic damage; but a wreck would screw up the frame.

I wonder what it will end up selling for. That's a pretty decent bump in the LR quarter panel, but it would make a FANTASTIC track or parts car.
The nice thing about it is that it's status is just unfit - it's not a salvage title so it doesn't have a branding of 'salvage' so the value isn't significantly decreased in that respect, should someone want to fix and sell....
