Drag FC project underway...look out Paul Bhawan

I don't know if you could have a better setup then the Ford 9" and the G-Force. And have you ever met Paul... if you have, you'll know what I mean when I say that challenging him would be a bad idea...

LOL I know, they have a pretty small turbo from factory. But they are just a regular Protege 2.0 engine block with a turbo on them, any kind of larger turbo upgrade needs to have an engine built for it.

Just like the 323GT/GTXs! The only difference is that the engine in the 323's is a hell of a lot stronger!

Yeah Pauls Datsun sounds pretty bad *** too. We'll see how our car comes together.
We're kind of stuck though right now since Nopi doesn't have a rule book published yet, we dont really know how to build our car just yet...

Heres a couple pics of the chassis and the rim and rear tire combo we bought. The rear tires are 31" x 16" on 15" rims.
The chassis starts to get cut apart this week, hoping to have it fully done in 2 months.
Heres an example of the chassis builders work and its exactly what he is doing for our car:

We decided on an FB because of the availability and they are nice and light to begin with.
The chassis will be NHRA legal for 7 sec and will weigh 2000lbs with driver and driveline once finished.

If you want to talk to me, call me at the shop pretty much anytime 519-513-0350
The chassis work is getting done by a good freind of mine, he doesn't have a shop, he does this in his shop behind his house. He's built several NHRA spec cars already.

hope you aren't planning on making real power with that g-force trans, a friend of mine has one in his camaro and has blown it up at least 10 times over the past 1500 miles. I think his last one didn't even last an entire pass.

it will least. u don't know what ur talking about. that tranny will work perfect its going on a rotary not a v8 that makes crazy torque. plus the top fuel guys use this tranny. Its torque thats going to kill the tranny. theres guys runnning 6sec-7sec with these tranny with no problem. ur buddy must run a cheaper g force. this is thebest tranny g force makes. they don't cost $8000 for no reason.

1: rotaries can do 1000HP
2: I'm just saying, I've seen quite a few blow up.. the input shafts fail all the time, and my friend hates g-force enough that I figured I'd say something.
his car is a street driven LT1 powered camaro, weighs around 2800lb, and only runs 9's. We aren't talking some 2000HP big block monster here, just a nitrous powered LT1.

I'm not too worried about the G-force at all. It'll hold up to the power we want to make, plus the G-force 2000 has a very nice warrenty
Edit; I guess I should change the title to 'Drag FB project' now lol.

The G-Force box is very strong. The Cobra R I have raced out on the West Coast has a G-Force box and we have pounded the poop out of that bax for over 20 hours with no issues. The Mustang weighs close to 3,000 lbs, runs 15" wide slicks and make close to 700 hp and over 500 ft lbs of torque.
If the box lives under that abuse, I am sure that it will live driving a 2100 lb drag car making less than 6 ft lbs of torque, LOL. Oh wait, Joe is a full scale dude, so the car may weigh 2112 lbs.
All joking aside, those boxes are bulletproof as long as you use the right gearlube and operate within the manufacturers rated limits.
Eric.
