Drag FC project underway...look out Paul Bhawan
We received our Turbo yesterday for our FC drag car we are building for the Pro Compact class here in Canada. Our plan is to also take it to some Nopi and NHRA events in New Jersey. 31"x14" slicks are being ordered along with Weld 15"x 12" rims for the rear this week, then its time to redo the rear-end!
Anywho, heres a few pics of the monster, 78mm inducer, T6 divided 1.32 A/R exhaust housing 5" v-band. It weighs almost 60lbs!
BTW, we are hanging it off a 13B
Comparing it to a 12A block:

To be honest I dont really know what it is, its a mutt turbo custom built. Garrett never did make a 78mm inducer, they went 76 then up to 80mm. We specifically wanted it 78mm because it flows a **** load of air and thats the Max inducer size we are allowed to run in the CSCS drag series.

The FC race car is getting this turbo and a 4 link solid axle setup. Its getting turned into a drag car.
Our RX-8 is going to be the street driven track car with a single turbo Cosmo RE.

Street driven track cars are lots of fun...
The above car has the same setup you guys are looking for, so give the shop a call if you guys have any questions about the setup (cage, rear end, etc)!
What transmission are you guys planning on running?
Good luck with the car! Paul really knows his stuff, you're up against some decent competition!

No peripheral port here....we're keeping it side port.
Also going looking for a G-force clutchless, might have to buy one new as the used ones seem to be beat on lol.
Paul sure does know his stuff, hopefully we can beat him with a real wheel drive (RWD) car lol.

Paul Bhawan has the fastest sport compact in Canada right now......
West-se, yeah I know...Coors water...it was the only thing in the beer fridge at the time. When your thirsty, you gotta drink! lol.
Plans may have changed for the chassis we may be using, in a couple weeks we'll have a better idea.
Our plan was to use this chassis as a starting point:
Ditch the IRS and go Ford 9" solid axle with a tubbed rear end and a G-force tranny....but we are looking at using a different chassis....we'll know better in a week or so.
west-se, I'll shoot you a pm back tomorrow if I can find time, or give me a call at the shop 519-513-0350....probably better to call

LOL yeah true, well we did actually finish the race car above....it just didn't make it to a track. Had some problems with the tuning which launched a rear seal, so it was sold to a freind who now wants to build it into a drag car.
I haven't challenged Paul yet....I'm not even sure if we'll be able to put the power to the ground properly.

There was some part throttle tuning issues, you can tell from this video:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=2DCaAg8dqwo
When you'd slam the throttle down it was backfiring and would snap lean then all of a sudden go rich again. We only spent an hour tuning it and we used 94 pump fuel. Once we had it back at the shop we were itching to drive it, 1st gear was usless, it would just smash the 8500rpm limiter we set instantly and once you shifted to 2nd it was stumbling real bad going lean, then rich. Ended up blowing a rear apex seal due to detonation...kind of our fault for driving it around when part throttle wasn't tuned right.
Live and learn...next time race fuel and lots more boost and spend a whole lot more time tuning the midrange throttle.

^ Sean, we are custom building a long tube header with the T6 flange on it for our drag application.
Here is an example of an equal length tubular header I have been fabbing up for production for the Mazdaspeed Proteges
We are finishing up the welding now that we know it fits perfectly in the stock location. One of the many products we will be selling to Mazda owners in the spring once all of our R&D is finished.
We're planning on doing the same for the long tube header for the Rotaries, as well as many other trick parts.
