Check out these wheels!

Too funny. Does anyone recall these ever being standard or an option on 7's?

I believe they came as a dealer installed option on 1st gens... That or on some special edition first gen, 10th aniversary maybe?

And don't get all hyper FC guys: the 10AE FB was to commemorate 10 years of Mazda in North America. You could get a 10AE 626 and GLC as well.

They were probably an option domestically in Japan. I don't believe they were available in North America.

I have seen these wheels before in the Yamaguchi 2nd gen book on a few 1st gen test mules. I thought they were just something made up internally. Maybe they weren't even available in Japan and this set escaped captivity somehow.

The sets I've seen had the centre cap with the Mazda name in black on them.

could be wrong..(read alot of ****)..I think they are 13's and 4x100 ..not my style personally ..if I bought a car with those on..they would be the first thing I would change..2 (3) triangles is enough! (13b,20b)

Close misty but not quite.

They're for the FB non-SE cars, 4x110mm. They came as an option on some Japanese savannahs. Don't know which ones but I know they weren't the norm and weren't on any North American cars from the dealer.

Feds: The FB wasn' taround long enough to have a 10th anniversary, that was 1988

I've seen 'em a few times before. Usually on "Savanna-green" SAs from Japan or Australia.

Yep, then you could get some custom wheel adapters to change the GSL-SE 4 bolt pattern to a 5 bolt so that they would fit.

Here's some info on the 1980 tenth anniversary cars: Aka "X" models.

http://www.rotorhead.ca/topic.php?fldr=tech&cntnt=1980

EDIT: That info on Rotorhead comes from John Matras' book Illustrated MAZDA Buyers Guide and is an excellent example of plagerism, for those still in school.

Neither John Ball's Mazda RX-7 The First Generation, nor Matras' Sports Car Colour History Mazda RX-7 mention the "X" nor the rotor wheels.

This site:

http://www.wheelspecs.com/specs/wheelmodels/1654

says the wheels come from japanese and european cars, but I could swear it was a Dealer Installed option here. Must keep looking

^^I'm quite sure I've seen those rims on FBs here myself - would be years ago, but they totally ring a bell for me.

Feds: Brain Long's Book "Rx-7" Mazda's rotary engine sports car has many pictures of the FB w/the rotary wheels.

The rotary rims came on the top of the line SE limited model and the same tires as the GT-X's model Rx-7.

Okay, so the hyperspellingnazi got Savanna spelled wrong

The Anniversary RX-7 was based on the "GS sunroof" model and included specific upholstery on new "competition style" seats, a 4-speaker AM/EM sound system, inside remote controls for the dual outside rearview mirrors, and the otherwise optional aluminum alloy wheels.
Still doesn't explain the rotor rims. I believe "Otherwise optional aluminum alloy wheels" are the "+" rims that you see on FBs oftentimes. There were plain steel rims the car came with if you didn't opt for the "optional" aluminum ones.

I think Taylor's got it.

Life wouldn't be any fun if I wasn't wrong sometimes. That's why I'm "moderookie"
