Car and Trailer From Halifax to Toronto

I need to get a 24" trailer and car from Halifax to toronto. Any ideas of what I can do other than driving 42 hours to do this?

There is probably some way to ship it via train, I know you can get cars shipped via train from Vancouver to Toronto.

Ship by rail.

I bought my FD in Calgary and had it shipped to Toronto.

I used a car shipper calle J. Simons, here's their website Fast Vehicle Rail Shipping (shitty little site, but I got good service from them).

They'll pick up the car from wherever it's at (needs to be running, or able to run long enough to get it on a truck). They'll take it to the train yard and transport it to Toronto where you'll have to make arrangements to pick it up (or have it towed).

-Geoff

Edit: Calgary to Toronto was about $1100 taxes included

Yeah, I knew about these options before as I used rail to ship my truck from Vancouver to Toronto. The issue here is that the car is a race car and is in a trailer loaded with spare motors, tires and wheels, body panels etc..... It all needs to come in the existing 24" enclosed trailer.

I think we will look at U Ship as well. Anybody had any experience with this option? It seems to be a bunch of independent haulers bidding on the business. I don't know about insurance or liability.

Are you buying the sister-Cougar from John?
Let me poke around to see if I know anybody heading on a road trip any time soon. If I wasn't so swamped from work right now, I'd probably do it and meet you halfway just for the road trip.

If you do decide to do it your self, I can put you up for a night or two or otherwise help out. If you are indeed buying that car, I only live about 20 minutes away.

*edit I just thought and I know one of the guys from the track is doing his annual migration to Florida soon and will be driving down his truck. I think he might just go straight through Maine which won't help you a lot, but, I'll check with him and see if he goes further West first.

Not me, but a guy who I have been working with for a few years with the Cougar and RX7. It would be nice to have both of them and the money is right for the car, but I have no place to keep it and my wife may kill me if I ended up with 3 racecars.....

First we have to see if they can agree on the money, then we need to see how we get it from god forsaken Halifax to the center of the universe. Just trying to make sure things run as smoothly as I can as it will be cool to have both of the only 2 WC Cougars running for the same team. Thanks for your help, however I am not sure that we want to take the car through Maine as there is really no ownership or serial numbers or anything on either car as they were built from bodies in white or test cars.

The other real issue is the size of the load. Looks like we are talking about 6500 to 7000 lbs of race car stuff and trailer. YYIIIKKEESS!

No worries. I'll help locally if I can. I know all of the players in question.

As for the person I mentioned (who also knows all of them), I meant if he was going further west before dropping down into the US. (Or could be persuaded to for a fee.)
He is commuting to Florida in an F350 diesel dually that he uses to tow his race car in a 28' enclosed, so, size of the load won't be a problem for him.

I was going to suggest asking on ARMS forums... I forgot you were on both as well.

Hi Eric. Don't know if your friend ever went through with it, but I finally heard from the person I was thinking of and he said he would be interested.
He's going down south late this year (between Christmas and New Years.)
I think he directly checked in with Bruce and John when I mentioned it to him, so perhaps they've already covered it with you.

Or maybe not. He just called me to say his wife might over-rule that. (Forum isn't letting me edit my other post for some reason.)

My buddy bought the car and got a deal on UShip to get it back up to Toronto. It seems that everything is good now (fingers crossed). It will be cool to have the only 2 full race Cougars running out of the same team, even though it looks like he is going Solo 1 / Time Attack with his.

Maybe we should both show up at a CSCS and run in FWD.......
