I wasn't planning on going this year but I would consider going just to see what Mazda's doing. Looks like this is a good step in that direction we were pushing for to get them to support motorsports up here. Has anyone been in talks with them recently about this? *Cough* RacerJason?

i got my email. if you read the email, it sounds like there going to make an announcement about how there going to deal with the topics we brought up at mosport. i think it would be smart for those of us who were at the meet and greet last time to show up together, so that we show them that we are serious and we are interested to hear what they have to say.

This is a snip from a post they put on their facebook page today about CME.
"Mazda Canada’s sponsorship of The Mazda Stage reflects the importance the company places on motorsports, especially grassroots road racing. Mazda’s high-profile at the CME will extend well beyond the stage, as it will also host a 20’ x 20’ booth featuring the Mazda2 B-Spec prototype (below), which will be eligible for participation in the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC). Also in the booth will be a modified 2010 Mazda3 GT driven by Quebec automotive journalist Jacques Deshaies in the CTCC’s Touring Class.
Mazda will also make significant news at the CME. At 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon (Feb. 11) on the Mazda Stage, Mazda Canada President Don Romano and John Doonan, Director of Motorsports for Mazda North American Operations, will unveil an exciting new program underscoring Mazda’s commitment to supporting motorsports in Canada.
Soon after that announcement, starting at 3 p.m. in the ‘Peel’ Seminar room, Mazda will present “Sponsorship / Marketing 101 for Racers.” The one-hour free seminar, hosted by John Doonan (right), Dean Case (MAZDASPEED Motorsports Communications Officer, Mazda N.A. Operations), Jim Jordan (Manager of Alternative Marketing, Mazda N.A. Ops.) and Jim Bowie (Brandrenaline, Inc.) will explain the difference between ‘sponsorships’ and ‘partnerships,’ and how today’s racers need to develop their off-track skills more than ever before."

Wow! I know John Doonan personally and he has been totally helpful to me. If it wasnt for John, Robert Davis and Dean my Mazdaspeed North Event never would have happened! He and Dean are both real stand up guys and they know whats going on big time! Now I'm envious that I wont be there!

I have known about this for a couple of months. Mazda has finally bit the bullet to support racers in Canada. Without jumping the gun on the announcement, it would not have happened without John Doonan and how he felt Canadian Racers were being treated.
The inclusion of B-Spec cars into the CTCC has really accelerated the program as the B-Spec rules are across 5 sanctioning bodies now and the support program had to include Grand Am, SCCA, World Challenge, NASA and CTCC/CASC events. I will tell you guys that based on this coming announcement, I have been dedicating a ton of time this winter on bringing the RX7 up to speed. New 3 way struts/shocks, new brakes, tons of intake and ECU work and making the car prettier.
After the announcement, go over to the CTCC booth and thank John Bondar for including B-Spec cars into his series. It would be nice.

Wellllll...... you would know, lol. After the last race weekend debacle, I pulled the ITB setup completely off the car. Figured out that the individual runners weren't completely aligned and had that fixed. Now no issues at all with fit and retention. Also, had the runners cleaned up and flowed. Everything looks tight and pretty and the motor should make more power.
Second issue was that the CAS was off 1 tooth and the timing was nowhere close to what we thought it was. Going to go to a dyno shortly for final tune, put the new struts in, alignment and we will be ready to rock and roll.
I love that Mazda is finally going to step up to the plate for Canadians, like they have in the U.S. for many many years. I just keep getting more motivated to work on the older beasty as the RX7 is just soooo much fun to race and this makes it even more interesting.
