Just stating an observation in previous car club experiences. Clubs have Die-hard, Guru's, and everyone else.

Monthly meets are more realistic. But weekly meets with all the trinkits involved? I'll belive it when I see it.


But then again, it takes alot more than people and cars to make up a club.

well when i can get to one of these meets i'm all for it, the only preoblem i for see is that eventually people would lose intrest in goign the same meeting places over and over again. we'd need to see projects and unique creations on a more constant basis. of course i'd be there anyways but then again not many people sleep in their car just b/c they can't drive it.

BTW. edmonton rx7club meets on the last friday of every month for the last few years.

Wierd as it is, I think it's mostly the owners. A club wouldn't attract me to join unless they had some quality members. Joe Blow talking how great his car is while spewing inaccurate facts and talking drivel is not going to cut it. I met a few RX-7 owners, some are very knowledgable and great guys. Some are arrogant people that I do not want to see or talk to ever again.

BTW, when I made the comment about assumptions, I was talking about your comments about not being able to afford gas to for a cruise. I thought that was amusing as I hope no one bought the RX-7 thinking that the 1.3L motor was going to sip gas

Speaking for myself, and only myself. If I have a choice, I'll never own an RX-7 as a daily driver ever again. Not that it wasnt fun driving it to work everyday. But at the same time I was expecting more milage. But hey, she was 20 years old.

When I get another rotary powered car, It will be for recreation I suspect.


But to add a factual point to the conversation, Rotaries arn't the only engines that suffer in milage. My buddies Big Block Mopar (all factory) gets something like 8MPG city. 10 Highway. Gotta love 4-Speeds.

This all means that while econoboxes of the day were twice as good on gas as the "muscle cars," they were only about 50% better than that of the RX7s and their ilk--- and not as fast.

But cars have become more efficient in the last 20 years or so, to the point that many modern econoboxes can match the 1st gens in performance (if not driving pleasure) and still get 40 mpg. And muscle cars now have the muscle to back up the name. For an apples-to-apples comparison you need to compare the performance of these newer cars not to the 1st and 2nd gen N/As but rather, to the RX8 and 3rd gen RX7. The new muscle cars hold their own against these rotaries, but the econoboxes don't even come close.

I donno. Must just be me. I got better milage in my old Big Block Dodge than I did in my 2 First Gens. My 2nd Gen was not bad if I didnt touch 3000RPM or 1/4 throttle. I think I recorded over 400kms that tank.


But slap on a couple mods and the gas light is like a christmas lights on a timer.

while i was breaking-in my fairly modded 87 Tii i got 450km per tank 3 times in a row, now that i can boost i'm lucky too get 300km/tank
