Calabogie Motorsports Park is OPEN
Yup.
Preliminary details here:
http://www.mco.org/cms/index.php?nam...article&sid=80
I was going to post the flyer but i forgot it somewhere, ****.
anyways, basically:
Saturday Oct.14, Sunday Oct.15
ride alongs/site seeing $25
Touring (pace car lapping in your own car) $50
Performance (A to D classes) $150
Sunday Oct.15
Touring (pace car lapping in your own car) $50
Performance (A to D classes) $150
With any of these BBQ (food) is included.
This will be the full 5km+ track (crap that is sweet).
I think i will be going for at least some pace car lapping, maybe some performance lapping if budget allows.

My brother in law was up there a few weeks ago as they were paving it and took a few pictures - he said it looked awesome. Over 5 kms, 23 turns and a bunch of elevation changes (although it claims only 65 feet of change). It promises to be quite a good track in the spirit of Mosport and St. Jovite.

it's a safe bet that the MCO will be holding quite a few open track days. i'm not quite sure about setting up our own track day, but i would imagine it would be hard because a lot of people would have to commit. this track will not be cheap, so for now attending some of the larger club track days seems like the best bet. but, getting a bunch of rotarys together for these sounds good to me.
$150 for a day of lapping is not bad at all for this MCO event. and $250 for the weekend. plus free BBQ

I'm pretty sure there is lapping both days. I am still debating whether to sign up or not, as my brakes aren't quite right yet. If I can't get them fixed I will just sign up for the touring.
Also you need a helmet for the performance lapping: M95, SA95, M2000 or SA2000
Jason, would you guys sign up for advanced lapping or just novice? If I do i'm going novice.

Is it just me, or does this appear to be one of the top 5 tracks in north america as far as fun and difficulty go?
The pictures look straight out of gran tourismo.. this track is the stuff of dreams.
if I'm not broke, and not in england, I'll try to attend the 15th in my BMW - I'd love to bring my 10AE but something tells me that track novice + technical, long track with huge straightaways + 400HP rx7 = probably not the best mix.

Good at "stupid"
How does the performance lapping work? I've never been... do they give you lessons, or do they just split you into groups by experience and let you have at it?
Do you need a special certificate or anything?
