Broken FD Window Motor

Broken FD Window Motor
Well, started up the car on the way home from work yesterday (had been sitting in the sun all day - been abusing it as a daily driver a bit lately) and went to put down my passenger side window and... nothing. The little passenger side electric motor is totally gone, whereas it was working fine that same morning.
I'm curious if any of you guys know how difficult that is to install / fix yourself, or how much it'd cost me (and where to go) to get it fixed. I'm very hesitant to take my baby to a Mazda dealership... even for such a menial little problem, and I really don't know where else I could try.
On another note, does anyone know a good place to get a show-car paintjob? I'm thinking of having the whole thing repainted. After that new rims / tires and recommendations for where to get those are welcome although I do have some particular designs in mind. I don't mind spending extra to get quality, but I don't want to get raked just because I have an FD and they think I can afford it (I can't.. lol).

Before you blame the motor you should check the switch. A voltmeter at the motor connection will tell you if the motor is getting any power. Maybe even testing the motor by bypassing the switch and applying 12V directly to the motor, first one way then reverse the wires.
Just a thought before you show up at a garage telling them the motor is shot.
But I'm not to familiar with the FDs....

Are you trying to actuate it from your driver's side door control panel?
You may have to use the actual passenger side switch, then try your drivers door panel again.
I had a similar problem where I could not control the psnger side window from the driver's seat. IIRC you have to physically trip a switch on the psnger door.
Then it worked ever since for me. Not near the car now, so I cannot try to reproduce the problem.

I've tried both switches, and the other window still works - wiring wouldn't make sense since the other window was always a little slower than the other one. Noticably it was failing before it bit the dust.
My main question here is where in Calgary would you go to buy the motor / and has anyone had this problem before that can lend some experience?

My passenger window motor just went out too. Coincidently- The BUTTON for my driver's side broke the day after that. So now I have the passenger window up, and the drivers window down- and they won't be going anywhere till I get this fixed :-/
