I hope the transmission will be ok too.

It shifted ok as well. I found it kind of strange but apparently the clutches go with the trannies.

It was $249 with tax so hopefully when I put it in tomorrow its all good. I have a good feeling but I know I took a gamble so we will see ^_^

I have needed a tranny for a bit but never called these guys because of the horror stories. Maybe i should anyways........

How were the rest of them? what year is yours and what years did they have left? Is there any way that you can tell the year of car it came out of? I have never looked over the inside of a tranny so maybe i may need your help

Well amazing news. The transmission was installed this morning, I went for a drive and boy was I surprised. The transmission shifts like a brand new transmission. I have never driven an RX-7 with such a smooth transmission. Every single gear slots in neatly, no grinding jerking, or anything. I drove it a little hard to test high RPM upshifts and downshifts and it took it everything smoothly without hesitation.

So my trip to the Tiger Casino paid off greatly. Plus now I have the JDM short 5th gear. It really makes a difference on the highway (about 400-500 RPM), it gives the car some power so downshifts aren't needed to accelerate quickly. I'm expecting 0.5-1 second decrease in my times at Mosport due to the shorter 5th gear on the back stretch.

Did I mention how happy I was?

I'd say in the range of 50-100 lol. They're just stacked like mad. Most are still connected to engines.

so like i asked before, how can you tell what year the tranny is when its sitting there. How would you know if your getting the upgraded internals with out seeing the actual parts? We all know this was available on the 99 up, so i dont wan to be buying a 93 again.

You don't, thats why its like gambling. All the 92-95 engines will bolt to your engine. You think they would have a 99 there because I don't. Remember these are cars/parts they buy as scrap.

I don't think you'll be able to buy anything from the 99's unless your willing to pay big money to have it shipped yourself from Japan from a known reliable source. Your only real choice is a 93-95 tranny.

Note: I don't think they intentionally sell you a broken transmission since they buy complete cars or engines with trannies on them, but that doesn't mean they care if its broken after it leaves their warehouse as its a no warranty item

Good news. I went to Mosport again and was doing consisten 1.33.x's and did one 1.32.9 and the tranny lived through it. The 5th gear syncro has broken since I got it at Cayuga though so it was still the original syncro. I'm not going to replace it though and just see if I break the transmission again. I'm loving my $250 transmission + $150 clutch which I resold so really it only cost me $100 lol!

Your time is faster than most of the cars running in the GT series including mine! Now you need to come racing with it!
