Brake light question
Anyone have this problem b4?
I have a RHD FD, and might brake light stays on when the car is running. When the car is off the brake light works fine. I checked the brake fluid and its good to go.
Any tips would be sweet.

Does just one side stay on or do all the brake lights come on? If it is all of them then I would start at the switch above the pedal like Lynch suggested. If the switch and wires look good then I would take the rear plastics off where the tail lights are and see if there is anything with the wiring.
On my RHD 93' I found that someone had wired some stuff into the rear tail lights and turn signals that was giving me nothing but grief.
Good Luck

thx for the help guys. Still having the problem.
The switch is gtg as well as the lights at the rear. Its weird because when the car is not running, the brake lights work. But as soon as i turn it on, the lights come on to....so frustrating.

For the hell of it,Check all your Bulbs at the back to make sure that they are the Correct Type(like 1157 and 1257)..sometimes you can Inadvertently Put in a Single filament bulb in there and it will cause havock and make your Brake Sensor light go off.

I am having a very very similar problem.
When the battery is connected ALL the brake lights come on, center and tail lights. I have brand new bulbs, correct type in thier right spot.
E-Brake light stays on all the time, regardless of position, (cheacked that switch no issues)
Some one mentioned to me that occasionally the cheap (GE crappy tire brand) bulbs can cause all these problems, I've yet to try anything else at the moment.
try getting quality bulbs. and I'll let you know what I find while diagnosing this problem.

I'm having the same problem, mine stay on car running or not, I found some broken plastic pieces on the floor mat, wonder if it could be the brake switch that is above the pedal?? What does it look like? Can I see it easily?
Thanks

Solved my issue.
On the brake pedal itself, there is supposed to be a plastic stopper which will depress the brake switch when in the up position. As with all FD's things break, and fall apart. Thus with no stopper, the switch is never depressed and the lights stay on ALL the time.
I replaced the plastic stopper with a cap screw and a washer at about the same height. Problem solved.
Check your pedal, it could be something simple.
Now if I could just get my cluster to bloody work..

To the OP, assuming that you have the correct bulbs in the light, you probably have some custom wiring on the car to make it run a rear fog light like someone stated earlier. The brake lights should be connected to constant power, going through the switch at the brake pedal, thus allowing the brake lights to come on when the pedal is pushed any time the battery is connected. If the brake lights are coming on when the key is in the on position and the pedal is not pressed, this means that someone has connected IGN 1 or 2 to the brake light circuit somewhere after the switch at the pedal.
As a guess, and this is strictly a guess, this jumper would probably be somewhere near the pedal since that would be the easiest place to find the brake light wire, and source an IGN 1 or 2 source.
This is only a suggestion of something to look for based on your description.
