brake hard lines??
just wondering where to get brake hard lines, the ones going from the 4-pot caliper to the rubber lines, locally (not off the internet)?
the guy at NAPA said to bring one in and they can just bend some out of replacement line they sell, but i don't have a spare one. do i just buy the hard line and bend it myself?
or is this something i should get from the dealership (if possible)?
thanks

Buy it and bend it if you can't wait for mazda parts, but get a cheap pipe bender to make sure you don't kink anything. But you only need one for high degree bends. I have scene pipe benders for $10.

Pipe benders are cheap. Princess auto sells 'em all the time for like $8.
Heck even get the pipe benders that look like springs (you slip it over the pipe and bend it by hand) and it prevents kinks. I think the "spring" type ones are even cheaper.

i think it has to go from the caliper, to a bracket on the strut, to the rubber line?
i just don't want to bend it wrong...

if you want 4 pot lines.
FB05-43-710B right front $5.30 USD mazdaspeed motorsports price
FB05-43-720B left front $5.30 USD
expect around 6.50 CDN each or so if you have a 20% discount at a dealership + tax.

4-piston FC calipers.
thanks for the parts numbers, i am trying to call the dealership but the stupid line has been busy for the last 15 minutes, argh.
mostly likely the guy is making his daily call to the warehouse, so who knows if i can get those brake lines by tommorow...and i know even if i can get them, it will cost twice as much as any other dealership...i hate this town, haha

Just get SS braided lines. Most of them will replace the rubber hose and that small hard-line that goes into the caliper. But at a couple hundred bucks - it isn't the cheapest option.
I got some from the dealer a year or two ago - they had them next day.

if i can't get it from the dealership by tommorow, then i'll stop by NAPA and pick up some line and "borrow" a pipe bender...anyone know how long the hard line is approximately, unbent?

Stop by Napa/crappy tire/whatever, with your old hard line. Select a straight generic line of the same thread and length. I think the right thread is 3/8ths. If you want to be certain then bring the rubber line with you so that you can try out the new hard line in the store.
You don't need a bender if you're very carefull and use both thumbs to make large diameter bends in the line. I learned that from a kid at Crappy Tire, who learned that from his highschool autoshop class.

or do you think i could just take the old line from the calipers and try to get a hardline made from that?
edit:
OK, finally got through to the dealership. the guy put an order for both left and right and said it MAY get here tommorow from Toronto.
good guy though the parts guy, just doesn't deal with a lot of RX-7s...in fact i think i'm the only one in town, haha

Take your single piston caliper hardlines in, I'm sure it's not far off. If it's wrong, at that point you'll have an idea of the proper length. Then you can go back and get another. Of course if your Mazda parts come in you may not care about what I've just typed.

When I got my SS lines from mazdatrix they didnt even come with that little peice of line. you would figure they would just make it a stainless braided the line the whole way. how much are you paying for the hard lines? I think I payed something like 8 bucks a peice.

i only ordered at like 1 pm.
Dave, the lines came out to be just under 8 dollars before tax. the parts guy was surprised they were that cheap, lol
