I'm having a bitch of a time linking the few pics I was able to save to my files before the MLS ad was taken down, and we don't have a digicam. Can someone explain how to a) transfer pics in the "my pictures" file to my "photobucket" and b) from photobucket to this thread? I'm not exactly a computer genius....

Four to five cars! Now you're talkin'. With that many lights it would be ideal for auto body painting. Of course, if they plan to do that they may want to mount some portable flourescents at floor level too.

What's more, there's parking beside the garage for two cars in storage, and a driveway in front. The covered rear deck is also large, with seating built into the fence. Barbecues ain't just a summer thing anymore.

The house is a bi-level located 40 miles southwest of Calgary in Black Diamond, a town of less than 5000 people. The same arrangement in Calgary would have cost us two to three times as much. We take posession in mid-April or mid-May at the latest.
black diamond eh? its a nice place, a quick drive to the mountians. i've seen a few 7's there. thats where mine is from originally. congrats.

Your garage is over 800 square feet. A condo of that size in these parts will cost you some 50% more than what you paid for the whole house!

What a sobering comparison!

yah it was a regular 2 door garage but the guy toor out the pool that used to be behind the garage to extend it another car and a half length. you open the front doors and it looks like a regular garage except there is another door on the back wall, you open that up into a show room with tiled floor, ect. we do most of the work in that back room.
the guy who used to live here had a few muscle cars and was definatly into drag racing, we left up all his pictures and stickers.. I find something new every day.
oh, and not to mension that there is a ghetto urinal in the back also.. it's a funnel attached to the wall with a tube that goes to a bucket so you can flush it.. damn thing comes in handy almost every day!

Yeah, rub it in, S. But now that you mentioned it...

Yeah, it's the wife's fault. Actually I'd been so busy house-shopping and tying up loose ends that I hadn't even been on the forum. By the time I realized there was a meet it was the day after.

Yeah, there are usually a few RX7s there--- and they're usually on their way to or from a certain address in the southwest part of town. Of course, now they'll have two destinations in B.D...

Yeah, that's insane. It's at least that bad in Vancouver too.

OK, the photos are now in photobucket. (my host). Now what? The instructions that used to work for me ("click on IMG button above message box", etc.) no longer apply since that box went out when they changed the forum several months ago. Can anybody steer me in the right direction here?

Just surf to your album,
COPY the url address to the clipboard
PASTE it in a post here. That should be good enough without being fancy.

Thanks Ed. It took a few minutes but I finally clued in. The pic of the garage doesn't exactly do it justice--- kinda like the miniature Stonehenge gaff in Spinal Tap. All I can say is, the side door is about 3-1/2 ft wide, so if you scale it across the width of the garage you should come up with 28ft. The 30ft measurement is the depth.

Soon will they realize the power of a rotary exhaust note.

I see your in relatively close proximity to the neighbours.

Nowhere near as close as those who bought houses in new developments are to each other (a three-year-old could touch the outside walls of two of those houses simultaneously) but close enough to cast a fishing line onto their BBQ grill and snag the best steak they have.

Soon will they realize the power of a rotary exhaust note.

Yeah, I'm afraid so. I might have to bribe them with a ride in the wife's 7...

- Wiring for stereo

- provisions for washer/dryer
- cut to prevent unwanted cracking
- smooth so that floor can be epoxy coated

[QUOTE=davet83]

things you might wanna put in that new garage

- hard lined compressed air

Certainly a compressor at the very least. Kinda hard to build an all-aluminum airplane without one. But whatever I do has to fit the budget...

- Telephone from house

Absolutely.

- Cable from house

Only if I get kicked out

- internet

Yeah. For the ****, after I get the boot...

- ceiling plugs for hanging retractable trouble lights

Not to mention hanging flourescents at all levels for that makeshift poly paint booth I'll have set up from time to time.

- provisions for hoist in floor

Another very desirable item, but that damn budget again. Not to mention conflict with the in-floor heating conduits...

- Insulated

Already done

- Heat (natural gas)

Yup, the in-floor heating is a natural gas-fired hot water tank.

- 220V support

Done.

- Air conditioning capable

As budget permits.

- bathroom (2 piece minimum, shower stall would be cool)

Low priority--- unless I get kicked out...

- Block or concrete up two feet from floor so that washing floor with hose doesn't ruin drywall

Excellent idea! In fact, a soft-plastic liner siliconed onto the walls around the entire perimeter and reaching at least four feet off the floor would be even better.

- central vac

Budget again...

- exhaust removal port in garage door/wall

Definitely on the "to do" list.

- cut to prevent unwanted cracking

Too late, the unwanted cracks are already there.

- smooth so that floor can be epoxy coated

Floor is no longer perfectly level. And I'm wondering if an epoxy (or other insulating) material used for floor covering will block the heat coming up from the floor. (?)

- hoist

Budget. And ceiling height.

- cabinets, counters
- storage shelving

...and parts stands.

- tire racks

Yeah, beats stacking them on the floor (improper storage), not to mention the dirt and water trap created by tires lying flat in the corner.

- washer/dryer

Yeah, for greasy cover-alls so as not to contaminate the good machines in the house. But also good for when I get kicked out.

- fridge (Gotta have beer and stuff for martinis!)

Another excellent idea.

- security system wiring

Yeah, no kidding...

- burglar bars on windows

Ditto.

- couch/pullout bed (cause you'll probably be kicked out of the house by your wife)

Good to see you're thinking ahead.

- urinal

Aw Geez, I wus jis' gonna cut a hole in the wall and stick a big-*** funnel through it. If one of my neighbours turns out to be a ***** I could route it to his flower bed...

- brass pole

Might as well, since I'm gonna get kicked out anyway...

- disco ball

Disco sucks. But maybe a blacklight, strobe and some flash pods. And let's not forget the kinky tire swing and the mirrors on the ceiling. The strippers will love them.

- stereo system

I think I have a spare ghettoblaster somewhere...

- parts wash basin

Definitely on the short list.

- maybe a small sandblast unit

Definitely a small sandblast unit.

- exhaust fan.

Yup, need one of those too.

- soundproof... you'll likely be working on your car at weird hours at night

Not to mention riveting aluminum. I think I'll need more than egg cartons to quiet things down...

Oh yeah, and thanks for all the links! I've seen those garages on here before. When I win the lottery....
