Big showing at race city before the council votes
The Calgary Motorsports Association has arranged an evening of "Show them what we do" night at Race City on Friday Sept 25th starting at 6:00pm. We are asking that any and all groups, racers, clubs and businesses come step up a display of cars and such to show the media and possibly city Councillors' what Race City is all about and why it is important to you and the City.
As many of you know, Alderman McIver has entered a new motion to council to extend the lease to at least 2015 and see the lease through as written to 2025.
This Secret Street night will feature the Edmonton Police Service Drag team and hopefully some representation from Calgary Police Service.
We encourage everyone to come down and show off your motorsport and help the track maintain the lease. This will be the last hurrah and this council decision will decide the final outcome of track motorsports in Calgary. Bring your car and or set up a business display.
PLease remember this is a Secret Street night, so there is a charge of $25.00 to
race and a $5.00 entry fee to spectators. Please be prepared to pay to enter.
PLease make the effort to support Alderman McIver and represent your sport, for aracer I can't think of anything more important at this time in Calgary to do on that Friday night.
Please pass this email to your members and others that you consider would benefit thesport. If the City does not extend the lease, then this will help prove to the city and media thatthis sport matters in Calgary and may force the city in helping provide something new.
Alderman McIver has gone to bat for us, we as a group need to show him and the City that we take our sport seriously. PLEASE SHOW UP!

Show them what we can do, how about some mobile organized street racing events through the city streets so they really know what the track is for. Just send the Calgary media up to Edmonton to view one of their evens so they really know what a good event can look like.
I remember when I had a kart and kart gardens was at it's best. After ripping up the track I had no desire to drive my car aggressively, the track gets it out of your system. Same holds for cars, if you can have an organized event where you can have your grudge matches and get time slips it will take a lot off the street, and those who do go to the track with be more sensible on the street.

Imagine if racecity added another secret street night, say for pure street or imports, so you could get more than 3 or 4 races in a night. That would help! Good luck on anything with this run down facility though.

before Race city inc when out of business and raceway inc took over secret street, there used to be wednesday night drags for the open header guys. since that has stopped all them open headers come to friday night secret street and get priority over everyone else despite everyone paying the same entrance fee. yes they're are flaws but it would be far worse if there was no track at all.
regardless it a good show and everyone should come out and have a good night
