BDC tuning session
I am planning on having Brian Cain come up in the spring of '08 some time in mid-late may.
He's fairly flexible about the number of cars/time spent up here, so there won't be a 5-7 car limit or anything ridiculous. More the merrier.
The good part here is since this will be a post winter session, you guys can ask him any questions on things your looking to achieve over the winter (or just go ahead and do them ), then work to get them done, and have them tuned in the spring. There will be lots of time to prepare and barring major last minute disasters anyone who signs up should be ready by that tim. I know most of my motivation to use BDC is because I'm planning on a water/meth injection kit over the winter and that's right up his alley....along with the 1/2 bridge port
He can tune all the major systems Haltech, Microtech, Power FC but if you have an odd ball one, PM or email him and see if he's interested.
The cost for a tune is reasonable when you shop around. $350 US flat rate. However, most of the tuning being performed will be done on the street as discussed with Brian - BUT - thats weather permitting, speed permitting (some cars are too fast to road tune) and if you're OK with NOT getting numbers. If some people ARE insistent on numbers, if the weather looks to be poor or whatnot we can book u2ne rent-a-dyno at an extra cost to be split amongst the people who are using it.
If you are interested, have questions, etc. post here and we'll make this happen.
I'll start it like this

I don't really care about seeing numbers, but I thought you could tune a car better on a dyno.
I wonder if he'll deal with my megasquirted FC or my Autronic FD though... woot for oddball ems's.

Terrh, give him a PM or email (he's on this forum and fc3s) and see, maybe he will?
George - Right on!
As far as the dyno being better goes (I'm no expert this is according to Brian) the dyno can be more controlled as in you'll be able to tune target cells faster but the actual loads seen by the car when you drive it aren't those made by the dyno - they're the ones made by the car when you drive it. Thus the street tuning superiority reasoning.

i prefer dyno tuning tough....(not because its better or what not). Just..that i dont want in the middle of tuning session...and got pulled over and ticketed.
but what ever it will be...i am in.

Right on Georgoe, we'll figure on having a dyno available then for sure. Once we get an idea of how many people want to use it, we'll establish a cost for that as well. I know I'd be down for some numbers after the tune is finished. But if its here for a day/two days/ 3 hours etc. will determine the cost so we'll figure that out once we get a better idea who all is in for it.

OK:
now that we've got some people, who would like to be tuned on a weekday?
Brian says that about 3 cars will be his limit for a day's worth of tuning (so you KNOW you're going to get a complete and well tested tune and CERTAINLY worth the money) that means one of these (now 3) tuning days will be a weekday. Either a friday or a monday whatever works best.
Since I'll be here anyways count my car as 1 for the weekday session. We only need two others who can take the time off work (or maybe they are lottery winnars and would be sitting around anyways ) to get the cars tuned. Whatever day monday or friday will work, I just need to know which.
Also, I'm going to talk to Brian tomorrow or the following day to see again if there's any sort of time restriction on how long he spends up here. Because if at this point there is more interest, it will have to be into more weekdays, which means tougher for the attendants to come out. But I'll check and see the situation and post back on where the line will be drawn....
Also - pricing for the dyno will come at that time....

I would like to say I would be interested but I hope to have the AI installed by then. Currently to lazy and tired of spending money on the car so I am not sure.......
What is the cap on people?

OK, sorry for the delays - I'm still waiting for word from the u2ne dyno rental person on cost....
What I've worked out with Brian so far is this. We'll be leaving it at 11-12 cars (3/day for 4 days) for now unless there's a huge surge in interest nearer to the event in which case we'll talk about it. I know that (although he hasn't posted) R.P.M. was interested in a copule spots so if he's a 100% go - there's only 1 spot left.
When I spoke to Brian last about the event I told him I was waiting to hear on the dyno cost etc and he expressed again his avid stance on street tuning. He said and I'll paraprhase "I'm this close to not tuning on the dyno at all unless its a car fast enough not to do it on the street. Mild stock, 300hp stuff should be done on the street because the dyno can load it so differently."
Here's where I think we hit a minor road block. We arrived at Jim's car, Wankel FD's car, my car and a possible 1 or 2 others will be needing some dyno time to finish the tune. The problem is that for 3-4 people (spreading it into a second day) to share the cost of the dyno is fairly expensive. But again I'm not sure since he hasn't gotten back to me.....
So I'm going to wait and talk to Dan to see exactly what this thing will cost and whether or not I can have people come to do just pulls (i'm sure local car clubs would fill in some time quickly) after the tuning hours so we can cheapen up (or if there's enough....possibly make it close to free) the cost of the dyno. Those details are just waiting to be hashed with the mobile dyno guy.
So there's an update....didn't want to let this stagnate too long.
EDIT: Almost forgot. Dates
We will be starting the first cars on Saturday May 24th 2008. 8am is when I'm open and we should be able to fit the tuning into a near 8-5 schedule. That means (once we figure out who exactly needs the dyno and which days etc.) once we figure out who is on which day, you'll have a slot of either 8am, 11am or 2pm. We'll try sticking to these times as best as possible, but you should arrive a little early just in case.
Now, I realize this may interfere with some of your long weekend plans if the "24" weekend is actually on the 24th, but I'm not sure exactly when it is ( I thought it was usually the third week of may? which would be the 17th) so if it IS the long weekend - deal with it
I'll be posting back when I get the dyno deal worked out....have a good weekend!

OK - from now forward if you'd like a spot post here or PM me, but more then likely I won't be taking any more unless there is 3 cars. Right now we have an even number of cars to do 4 days of tuning, taking on 1 car and keeping him (and the dyno) here for one more day will just make things too costly ---- NOT THAT WE WON'T, but it would make the most sense if there is three to make it even.
Also, if anyone decides they can't make it for whatever reason please post as soon as you know to allow others a chance to grab your spot.
I'm STILL waiting to hear the breakdown of the dyno cost as well as what they'll allow me to do as far as doing pulls after the tuning to bring cost down, but once I know I'll post it.

Yep, count me out.
I didn't get a PM back, I sold my autronic powered FD today, and there's no way I'll have the 20B running by springtime in the 10AE, so I'd basically have nothing for him to do.
I'll try and make a cameo apperance though, in whatever I have to drive at that point.
