Back in Ottawa!

Back in Ottawa!
Well, some of you older members will remember when I used to live in the Nation's Capital... then 5 years ago I moved to Vancouver.

Well guess what, I'm back! After 5 years in BC my wife and I are moving back to Ottawa.... We take possession of our new house in the next couple weeks, so pretty soon I'll be touring around the streets of Ottawa again.
In '05 I posted this thread about loading my car on the train to BC... https://www.rx7club.com/canadian-forum-42/rx-train-458738/ well earlier this week I did it again in the opposite direction. What makes me nervous this time is that 3 days before putting it on the train, I installed a new engine. Fingers crossed that the shippers will be gentle and follow instructions... It only ever has to go about 100 yards, but that's no guarantee.
Anyway, hopefully I'll see some of the old crew around... and maybe meet some of the new guys!

Welcome back, Scene has changed a little since then.
No more orleans meets, ( but there is a meet at the rideau race track with $ 9 buffets )
I think from the old crowd, whos left is, Jason ( but hes selling his black FC, or has been trying too , or its sold ), John evilRotor,( hes a FD snob now , 99.7% stock or so ). Calzone, with a RHD FD also that is on blocks at the moment , Dave has the grey NA haltech FC , but hasn't seen the road in 2 years or so. Aaron is subaru guy. Jon still has the FB and Taylor still has the FB .
But there is ALOT of RX7s now in ottawa compared to before. Just all around town.

Thanks for the welcome back Sam! Are you going to be at the Grand Prix this weekend?
John, you've been too legit since you had that GXL...
Glad to see that there is still a decent scene in Ottawa. As for the Orleans meets, is it that the old cars don't gather there at all anymore, or is it that we are just not welcome anymore? I'll have to check out the Rideau meets and buffet once my car arrives!

Two words: Freakin' Sweet!
Next meet I'll likely have a thousand questions about shipping the car across the country. One of these years I want to ship the car to Vancouver, take three weeks off, fly out there and drive it home. I only get three weeks of vacation per year, and it's not enough time to properly do the round trip if you want to stop at all the cities along the way and play tourist... So I figure this is probably a great way to do it.

I didn't get an invite to Calabogie, although I haven't talked to anyone here in years! I drove my car out of the garage this weekend and went for a rip, 1 inch layer of dust and all.
