Autoslalom events in Grey/Bruce county?

So hopefully you guys can help me out with this. Next year I would like to participate in some autoslalom events with the 79, just to have some fun with the car. I'm not out to be competitive really though I think the stock 79 can hold its own on decent tires. I'm hoping someone knows about a few events that would be hosted in this area though. I know there are events in the bigger cities that are 2 hours or more drive away from me, and I've thought about the Sigma time attack events, but is there really anything around the Owen Sound area and about an hour around? Unfortunately for Sigma, I would have to make a 3+ hour drive to get to them and I don't have the equipment to trailer the car in case I do break something. At least autoslalom is a little easier on the car I think?

I've never really heard of anything local. I know they do them quite often at Fanshawe in London, but that is still like 3 hours away. Honestly I don't think anyone around here hosts any events. Unless the Grey Bruce Rotorheads were to organize something......

This is something that has crossed my mind. I know the local Billy Bishop airport has closed for a day before for a car show, so maybe its possible if we could get a big enough crowd to put together a few days through the summer.

This is pretty much what I was suspecting though. Fanshawe is just too far away I think without trailering the car out to the event, same with the Sigma time attacks. Even if I had a new car I would trailer it to and from the event if it was far away. Anything can happen, snap and axle, toast the brakes, blow an engine...

The only thing local would be to enter into some of the king of the hill races at Varney or at Sauble Beach. Only problem is they are actual races and can get out of hand every once in a while.

Yeah I've seen races like this and as much as I would like to enter, I have seen the results of them getting out of hand. One that comes to mind is at the oval at Mosport when I was there for the ALMS races. A Impreza STi pushed too hard coming out of a corner and destroyed the front of his car on the wall. Other occasions I have seen many cars kiss the wall lightly on corner exits (enough to rip off side molding), one guy nearly do a 180 in a taurus, and many near collisions between the cars from people that don't know when to brake.
