Announcing the 2011 Ontario Time Attack Season!
Subject: Announcing the 2011 Ontario Time Attack Season!
The 2011 Ontario Time Attack Season is just around the corner! We have 9 events scheduled this year at; Mosport DDT, Shannonville Motorsports Park (all configurations), and Mosport International Raceway.
We are also running two track schools this year where you can learn fundamental and advanced driving skills. The first school will be held at Mosport DDT, the other at Mosport International Raceway. These schools aren’t just for “newbies”, even if you’ve done some lapping before, the schools will make you faster!
Ontario Time Attack (previously “Solosprint” or “Solo1”) is re-launching this year with an all new event format that includes more lapping time, hired marshals and new sponsors. It remains one of the most affordable forms of motorsport and competes on some of Ontario’s best race tracks.
We offer a car classification system that strives to enable a wide range of vehicles, from stock to highly modified, to compete as evenly as possible. Thanks to our sponsors, we expect to give away prizes with a cumulative value of over $10,000!
Visit our “getting started” page here for details on what you need in order to get started. The Open House is coming up soon and early bird discounts are available!

Gentlemen, I hope to see some nice RX7s out on the track. I'm looking forward to spring. I'll be out again in my Nissan NX1600. It has a bit more attitude this year than last, so I'm anticipating having a lot of fun!

Considering this for next year. I went with sigma time attack due to the individual timers installed in the car and as to the format of lapping from 8 to 3pm. The lapping format provided so much track time unlike my 2006 Solo1 failed attempt I only ran once at shannonville and ran into a failed oil cooler line and pulled out for that year due to other obligations.
Glad to see there are a few options to play in...

I believe this IS Solo1, aka CASC-OR SoloSprint, now aka Ontario Time Attack.

It is still solo1 (With a new name) but a new format of running their events. The new format looks alot more promising then when I tried it in 2006. In 2006 (If it was event that year) offered very little track time.

Hi Howi,
The format you describe sounds like a Mosport GP event. At the small tracks in recent history it's always been a bit of lapping followed by competition on both days. The lapping time has been increased by the addition of paid marshals, reducing the need for volunteers and also speeding up the day. Typical day should give 3 twenty minute lapping sessions in the morning followed by competition in the afternoon, with open lapping to end the day off.
At Mosport GP, in July the Saturday is a school. Sunday will follow the described format. In August the Friday is a lapping day and the Sat/Sun are the Canadian Nationals - again, a similar format.
The results will be available the same day, although they may not be posted on the internet officially for a couple of days.
There's no hiding that Ontario Time Attack is formerly SoloSprint/Solo 1. But with improvements!

The 2011 Ontario Time Attack series is now underway! June 4th and June 5th at the DDT ran smoothly, despite initially unfavourable weather on Saturday. OTA's new paid marshals have allowed for more time on the track for everyone, with plenty of lapping and competition time.
Click for pictures and results from June 4/5th.
Our next series of events are coming up fast! The weekend of June 18th and 19th takes the series to Shannonville Motorsports Park. The pre-pay discounted rate is available until Wednesday June 15th.
Following that, Saturday July 9th is the Mosport International Raceway school, a good chance to learn the big track in a fun and safe way. Sunday July 10th is our first of several competition days at MIR.
There is still time to sign up for any one of these events, contact ontariotimeattack AT gmail.com to register or visit our forum.
Competitor and spectator safety is a priority at Ontario Time Attack. Novices are given instruction until they are signed off, professional marshals are used to control traffic, and safe driving is enforced.
Definitely come and check out a day Howi, the paid marshals have greatly improved the "flow" of the day vs the old Solo1/Solosprint system. We have found that we can get substantial amounts of lapping without trading off much competition time.
