Angle sensor half turn out on 86 FC
Getting ready to replace the angle sensor with a first gen dizzy for my drag bike . I removed the angle sensor and decided to reinstall it just so I knew what to do and getting the marks right when installing the dizzy .. I crank the engine clock wise till the pointer near the front pulley and the first pulley mark are lined up ,, I check the angle sensor and line up the dot on the gear with the mark on the sensor body ,, I install the angle sensor into the engine I look at the pickup and there is a little white dot on the angle sensor spur (someone painted it there ) There is also a tiny o stamped on the spur (factory mark)at the same place that the white dot is and they are 180 deg. from the pickup.. See Pics..I went through these steps three times and every time the mark on the spur is 180 deg. out .. When I bought the car the guy told me he could not get it running after his friend installed the engine in this car ( It was really flooded bad the oil pan was way over full and it smelled strong of gas .. Is it possible that the drive gear on the angle sensor is on 180 deg. out or is off set so that it cant be put on a half turn out .. The engine compression is 112 front rotor and 110 on rear rotor seems like it is away up there compared to most that I have read about .. I don't believe that these guys ever had this engine running . originally it was set up so that the dot was lined up with the pickup which is a half turn out ..Can someone enlighten me on this problem .. Thank-you

Don't rely on the DOT on the CAS.
PULL the CAS OUT.Yes,.Right off and Out of the Front cover.
Look at the bottom of the CAS where the Little Gear is on the Shaft.you will see a small Indented punch mark.On the Casing of the CAS( at the Bottom of the CAS.like the Bottom of an Ice cream Cone) you will see a small Alignment mark in the casting.Line the gear mark up with the Casting mark, and while holding onto the Cas's case, and the Inside of the Cas,Stab it in so it Seats itself on the gear...IF your Main pulley is lined up and your CAS is aligned by that Gear on the bottom and the casing mark being aligned. The car should now be in Time.

yup did that and I am sure I have it right I just wondered about the little white dot that someone put on the cas spur or rotor or what ever it is called .. I'm thinking the guys used the white dot instead of the marks on the bottom of the a.s. and pulley like the book said.. I know that it is not a timing concern but if you look on the spur that passes the pickup you will see a tiny o and that is what these guys were trying to do is use that little o on the spur inside the a.s. ,,and the flywheel marks and that would make it fire on the wrong rotor .. Thank-you for your time

If the CAS was 180 degrees off exactly, the engine would run as normal.
Pull the cover off of the CAS and then line up the pointer on the bottom with the dimple on the gear. With the engine at the yellow timing mark on the pulley, stab the CAS down while holding the rotors with you fingers. You may need to wiggle a bit. The two tooth will will end up at about 2 and 8 o'clock.
I think you white marks are left over from someone stabbing the CAS years ago and not really being aware of the procedure.
