Yeah and us car guys could step it up with a Z06 Vette on r compound Hoosier street tires.
By the way I am an old bike guy myself so I could consider myself a reformed biker poser pansie.

yes it would, but... the race that was done, the R1 was in favour because of its big name in the bike industry, to have made it more even they should have used a m3 gtr or even a 911 turbo.
if they were to do a race with a R6, they should use something like a NSX-R or even a Z06 like 23Racer said, would not be even close...

Go Hard....or Go Home
At one of the tracks in Europe where the Formula 1 cars and the World GP bikes race on the same track with the same configuration, the F1 cars are 34 SECONDS a lap faster. I couldnt believe it myself! It was especially interesting that the both were within 3 miles per hour of each other at top straightaway speed. A bike just doesnt have near the grip of a car which is the bottom line of the equation.

There's a whole 'nother can of worms. Beyond mechanical grip (a function of weight, contact patch area, tire construction, and friction co-efficients): How much aerodynamic downforce are you getting out of a bike. A race car, and an increasing number of road cars, can take advantage of the added downward force without an increase in mass, leading to higher accelrations (a.k.a. cornering speed). Isn't math fun?!?

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been a retarded response to this thread yet

bikes are good for highway. small agile, and fast, Cars are more (dare i say it) "all Round" i don't believe either is better off just cause it has 2 or 4 wheels, but you have to remember you take a bike on the high way (new GSX-R 1000) you will get owned if the rider has anyexperiance, those things have 6 gears and only need the first for "legal driving" you can keep them in first and do wheelies at 120kph stock, but remember when you fall you fall, both have sweet aspects fo them like weaving in bike can be really easy or getting round traffic, yet cars can be more comfortable to take longer trips in. but if anyone just hates bikes cause they are not cars needs to have their ***** kicked in or their nipples twisted. thats just hating, and each is good to it's own "Venue" of supporters and owners....... nuf said.

There's one thing that I specifically like about cars and don't like about bikes that was shown in the video (@3:27): "He nearly lost it there". You can't "almost loose it" in a bike, you basically either do or you don't. Same thing with the car too, if the bike would of went on the grass on a corner, it would have slide out. Cars are more nimble than bikes, it's just bikes are more agile because of their smaller size. Plus car's can be pushed beyong their limit with some recovery ability

love the braaaap
There are a lot of bikers that say that a bike will handle the twisties better than a car. I think its these people that they are trying to put down here. Theres no doubt about it that a bike will go faster in a straight line and be able to weave through traffic easier, but the car will in the end be faster than a bike on a track or a twisty road. Just put a car and a bike with similar reletive standing in their worlds (high performance bike to a high performance car), and the car will come out on top. This is what is trying to be stated here.

Bike's have some margin for error. If you ever watch those crazy european bike crazies, they are "dirt tracking" all over the palce, big crazy broadslides on almost every turn.

actually road and track ( i think) recently did a test that had a stock zx6rr run a stock z06 on the track, and a race prepped skyline run a race prepped zx10r on track, and the results were definately surprising.
the stock zx6rr came out not only faster than the z06, but was faster than the skyline as well, by more than a second. the zx10r was faster than them all.
it was an interesting read, i've always stood by the belief that cars are faster than bikes on track, and having a car mag come out, do tests and get beaten by the bikes was kinda neat. if i can find the link ill post up.
edit- i think it was road and track speed. i found it at my local chapters a couple months ago
