13REW, is it possible? Please read

Alrighty,

First off, the reason I'm posting in the Canadian and not the 2nd gen section is because I live here and it's related to canadian stuff lol. When I bought my RX-7 last year, my plans were to swap a 13BRE sometime within the end of the first year of owning the car or sometime during the second winter as I dont drive it during the winter. I was already planning on goin to the new RPM performance shop in Walkerton. But just recently, I guy I know had an accident in his 3rd gen and is selling it. I believe he posted on here of selling his car. Now, the engine and tranny looks solid, and is said to have 50k on the reman. So, if he were to be willing to part out, would it be hard/possible/worth swapping into my FC. To those who reply and look, thank you for your time!

well, its hard - and its possible. Worth your time depends on the value of your time - haha.

Really though you can extract the same amounts of power from a straight 13BT...so the only reason to do the swap in my mind is a bit of bling factor. Especially when you consider that you could dump the extra you'll spend getting that motor in on things to make your regular motor run better and make more power.

But do what you like - the bottom line is its do-able.

Doable, but I for one don't believe it's worth the effort. Like classic said, you can get the same hp out of a straight 13BT, granted the potential isn't as high. The BRE would probably be the best swap, next to he 20b ahah.

There actually isnt much of a difference between the FD motor and the Cosmo 13B. The motor mounts, oil pan, intake ports are pretty much all the same. The intake manifolds are different and the stock twin turbos on the Cosmo motor are actually smaller than the FD twin turbos.

Either way you look at it, its still the same amount of work.
