Accomodations

I suggest keeping an eye on the major Toronto papers for 'room sales' by major hotels in Ottawa.

The last time I stayed in a motel/hotel in Ottawa, I'd booked a room at the Journey's End in Kanata for two nights. But then during the week before my trip, the hotel that used to be the Skyline (forgot the new name -> big-***, luxurious hotel in the downtown) had an ad in the Star. Their basic room for less than I was going to pay for the motel room.

I switched, got to stay in a much nicer room with a great view and pay-per-view ****, and swim in their pool, which I hadn't done since I was 10 years old (my dad used to take us there while he played squash in the hotel's courts.)

So watch the papers...

Here's another one

Adam's Airport Inn.
Bank St (Hwy 31) 1/2 south of Hunt Club.

Here's the web site:http://www.adamsairportinn.com/

Here's their posted rates. Actuals may be lower?!
Single $79
Double $89
Suite with jacuzzi $135

I know this place is ok because my mother and stepfather stayed there once. Continental Breakfast included. Pretty small place, only 2 stories.

Bonus is they have a chinese food buffet place 500 ft away, and Harvey's Mcdonalds, Wendy's at Hunt Club.

Bank St Mazda 1500 ft away.

Nothing is "close" to RXcetera's house. He lives in the boon docks! (that's right, I said boon docks!)

That said, Ottawa is wicked small. At most, it will take you 1/2 an hour to get to his place, and their traffic is not too bad.

Now for helpful info: The Corel Centre is in the extreme west of Ottawa, and RXcetera is in the extreme east. So, either a hotel downtown, or one in the east will probably be best. Anything on Montreal Rd. should be o.k.

Montreal Rd is the best bet since it's easy to get to both Corel and my place from there. Many of the hotels I posted on the page before are on Montreal rd.

Done.

I'll give them to you on Saturday so you can check them over yourself in advance and make sure they're all OK.

Any hotel will take cash but they'll want your creditcard # to reserve a room for you in advance.

sorry, this is what i meant^

to rephrase, all hotels i have been to require a credit card for record, but some cheaper motels might take cash under the table.

I'd avoid the Prestige Inn... That's the cheap hooker hotel in Vanier.

Honestly, I'd avoid Vanier altogether, unless you want to worry about your car. It's the worst part of town. So basically, avoid half of Montreal Road.

I guess no one thought of it earlier, but we could have negotiated a discount at some hotel for the event. Oh well, next year.

well you still have 1 week to ask a hotel for a huge group discount. 1 week of notice is still a good amount of time.

Well, I'm in no way involved in the organization of this event, and in no need of a hotel, so someone else can do the calling around
