Solid mounts transfer tons of gear noise and whining so nothing you can really do there even a like new diff is going to be very loud with solid mounts. Same goes for the trans.
I knew that going into this but it slipped my mind after all was said and done. Thanks for clearing that up for me though, I am no longer worried about the diff noise. Although I will be replacing fluid soon and will inspect the diff while I'm at it.
But I finally got Rhonda on a lift! I am lucky to have friends in the right places and got to lift her up and tighten some things.
She seems to have a bad inner tie rod and it is a manual rack, does anyone know where to get a replacement? Or are the manual and powered racks the same?
Finally ditched this tin can and got a real exhaust!<br/>Picked up a used Racing Beat Rev II for about $500 and I can't believe the difference in sound! I can hardly tell she is running now... The neighbors will be happy.
500 for a rev II is a good deal I would have done the same it's probably the best sounding fc exhaust I have heard for reasonable quiet but still makes some noise when you are on it.
My only issue with it is the weight is pretty out of control for an exhaust.

The weight is pretty ridiculous but the sound is great. I have only backed it out of a garage so far though. I could barely tell she was running! $500 was a steal and I feel lucky considering I have been wanting this for a long time now and didn't want to pay retail on it. We will see in about an hour how loud it really is.

Sorry but I trashed it already. It was pretty bad though, all the fiberglass was gone and it had a horrible drone to it. As soon as I set it on the ground all you could hear was rattling noises that never seemed to stop. The main reason it was replaced is because it had a horrible rattle at the lower RPMs. That and the neighbors couldn't stand it.

Yeah I've seen those on ebay. Was looking for a quick solution to being able to hear my car at the track lol
So I bought the LRB Speed undertray because A.) I have wanted one for a long time B.) I have been having cooling issues lately.
I think I have my cooling figured out though finally. It seems this issue only started after I replaced the fan switch, and I believe I have a large air bubble in the system. Tonight I will be burping the coolant system to see if that helps considering I haven't actually done this correctly since the rebuild.
Could having an air bubble in the cooling system cause random spikes in temp while at a stand still? It doesn't happen all of the time, only after a spirited drive then sitting in traffic.
For starters my fan is crazy and has a mind of its own. I have a 175/off 195/on switch and a 180 thermostat, is this proper?
And now I smell coolant in the cab and cannot find a leak. No puddles on the passenger or drivers side floors, and I don't seem to be losing any coolant. My first guess was maybe a small hole in the heater core hose? But like is said, I don't see any puddles and I'm not losing any coolant. What else should I look at?
Also my AFRs are pretty lean in the higher RPMs. I do have an SAFC that I have yet to install and I know that will help. But I'm having trouble finding information on how to wire it in. Anyone have any information they would care to share?
What do you consider lean? There's quiet a few places coolant can leak that's not easy to see you will have to hunt pretty thoroughly especially if it is burning on something like the exhaust.
With that fan switch your fan will turn on the first time it hits 195 and never turn back off until after it sits which is not ideal but if the alternator can handle it won't hurt much either. All assuming your t stay is working correctly.
Electric fans need to be quality fans with good control to work well here in arizona. Most of the aftermarket fans are junk in my experience. Basically the mechanical fan is superior in virtually every way except size and looks while not being nearly the drain on horse power people like to act like it is.

Well what I consider lean is 14.9+/-:1 which isn't ideal.
As for the switch, that is exactly what has been happening. The fan will come on once it reaches what I assume to be 195 and never turn off. I would just run the stock clutch fan if my car came with it but I wasn't that lucky.
I have yet to install my temp gauge and cannot say exactly what temps I am getting. The stock gauge shows I am running cold most of the time. If I let the car sir long enough for the fan to kick on the gauge reads about half way before the fan will actually turn on.
Like is said though, I have not lost any coolant since I rebuilt the engine and cannot figure out why it smells in the cab. I did notice today that the thermostat housing seems to be a little damp now and that could be a place to start.
