heyoo!
Some tiny updates
New manual boost controller. Yey 10PSI!
"New" FTP lenses. Both my old ones broke, and the car was missing them for a long time. They are not essential, but it's nice to have everything looking the way it should.
Staying hydrated! The water injection works well.
There's really not much more I'll be doing. Maybe a little poking and prodding on the tune, but that's it. Drove it all this past weekend no issues. Finally where I want it to be.
Can't wait to GET RID OF IT next summer.

Haha didn't see my silly friend bumped this thread. I know somewhat that the water injection on the turbo inlet alters the compressor map, but after that... don't know... does it still offer the benefits of helping with knock; keeping combustion/exhaust temps down?
my reason for it was never power, just some safety.
Thanks for reading.

Everything on the internet is TRUE
Better atomization from pre turbo injection at the cost of erosion. if you move it pre turbo just make sure you are getting a fine droplet to minimize erosion. The amount of time you spend in boost it will most likely be nbd but these guys advocating it can tell you more.

Beef! What's up man, remember me?? Your project was just starting as I exited the RX7 crowd around 2005...and now, as expected, I miss my old car! Hope all is well...looks like you know what you learned a LOT!!!

Yes! I remember you had the very, very rare burgundy colored S4 and also a mitsu galant vr4?
I'm actually going to be getting out of all of this soon. All kinks seem worked out, time to sell and move on after 10 years.

That's me - here she was the day I sold it! I sold the GVR4 too then moved to an 06 Civic SI that I modded. Then, I traded that in for a 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 and I'm running out of bolt on mods hehe I love the Speed3 and love being back into Mazda but I'm goin through major RX7 nostalgia

Remember it!
Got a 2008 Si now, looking to sell this FC and move onto an M3 (or maybe a Miata) for a track car. Unless the perfect FC comes along again (like my first '91), I will be saying farewell to the rotary.

So it's time for the ultimate face palm.
This WHOLE TIME, I had a vacuum leak! And I unknowingly stumbled upon it looking at something else. What's odd though is the engine idled steady at 1000RPM, and pulled about 18 inches of vacuum, albeit, always idled rich. Sometimes it would dip into the low 10's Usually it idled 11's. Too rich for an idle IMO, but I figured the vacuum was good, the engine is ported, so it must just be the way it is.
Also, it was running pretty damn good. Made 10PSI, but I did notice on some hard romps the boost would drop off to 6-7PSI, but again I figured I only have a stage 1 BNR, and the engine is ported so... maybe that just happens.
I figured it was running well, but then again, the entire time I had no reference point.
Now I know!
It was a medium sized outlet on the back of the LIM. Comes out at an angle, what it's for stock, I have no idea. So after face palming, I capped it.
I started the car and it nearly died, so I had to tighten the throttle stop screw until the idle came up again. After that I didn't need to change anything. Vacuum is the same, but now it idles in the high 12's! Great! I took it out and immediately noticed just backing out of the driveway that it's 5x more responsive. It was a hell of a lot zippier going forward too. I couldn't get much into 3rd gear, but in 2nd it went HAM. A few runs to the top of second and she was chuggin'.
I feel like I have a new engine in this car.

Agreed. This is a better "budget" build. I'll have to see if I can get my hands on this stuff for pretty cheap and throw a stage 1 or 2 on my ported 6-port. Realistically I want around 400, but I'm in no hurry to get there.
First I gotta solve my 6500rpm stumble. :P
