My 91 FC3S RHD LS1 Build

That's so tempting it almost feels wrong. I probably won't sign up this month, next for sure. I'll try to check out the event this month over in El Toro. Not sur if I can make but that sounds like fun.

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the delay lol
Here are some pics I just took today when I swung by the shop. I'll try to get more and better quality pics...
Bumper is off for the power steering oil cooler lines and some other aerodynamics
Dang my engine is dirty!!!
You probably recognize my rear end from the video lol
I seriously need to take some pictures of the left side of my car....
Some pics of the exhaust...
The X pipe connection
a close up of the canisters
Close up of the headers to exhaust and you can see the custom tranny mount that had to be made to accomodate the headers...
I'll get some other pics later once the car is together... right now tooo many wires and what not consuming the inside... I'm having the ECU mounted inside the cabin... so that is a lot of wire extending lol!

lol... indeed... I will give here a full wash once we finish getting all the brake and clutch lines for the tilton pedal assembly and we can actually drive it around. I'm going to check on it today and see where its at. Hopefully post some pics tonight if my day doesn't get too crazy. hehe.

That's fine with me. I don't mind showing them all of the effort I went in to make the car street legal. It still needs cats and a couple other bits put back on but once it's finished it should pass anything the state ref has to throw at it. lol.... But let's hope I don't have too. hehe...
#58
Well, that's all part of the plan. Right now I'm just getting it running and reliable. Once all of that is done then I'm going to dial in the looks including a new body kit, covering the wheel wells and most definitely filling in that gap with some deep dish love... I mean I'm rocking 2.5" spacers in the rear and 2.25" spacers in the front... so yeah... there's room to improve.

Finally making some progress... The lines for the Tilton Brake and Clutch Pedals are all mocked up... we just need the connector fittings then they will be reading to test out.
After that, there is just the new guage cluster and Defi Guages to hook up, then we should be able to start test driving this bad boy... I'll post some pics once we get the pedal lines done.
Can't wait to post a vid of the car with me driving it around lol....

I really dig the swap and the 4-into-1 collectors with the custom exhaust is a work of art......Some good time invested in that LS1 swap and it looks well sorted. Screw the naysayers and panty waisters for downing on swaps. If it was good enough for Carol Shelby and the AC Ace, which became the infamous 427 AC Cobra, (see V8 swap into foreign car) it should be good enough to garner the respect of the average forum fanatic that would rather give a baseless opinion than man up and give props where, most assuredly, they are due. Now a RHD LS1 Turbo sounds even more exclusive and would be ALOT of fun to drive in anger.

Thanks Sknkwrks for the support... turbocharging this bad boy is definitely part of the long term plan lol... I think I need to get used to it in it's NA form beforehand lol....
Anyway for everyone watching this..... Here is the mockup of the gauge cluster
I'm hoping I can get some more pics taken and uploaded this weekend...

Swung by the Hypertek this weekend and got some more shots of the car as progress is in effect... hopefully it will be all done by next weekend so I can do some test doughnuts in it.... and post video of that heheheeeee.....
Um Another pic of the engine with the covers....
The heat shields for the exhaust
The cage and interior from the trunk...
Missing the two 10"s and 12" box... but the roll cage is looking nice!
A front shot...... and dang this car needs a wash! lol but you can see my two beautiful brides
and that's what happnes when you are doing a lot of rewiring to the stereo, guages and installing a new cluster.... oh yeah and extending all the wires so the ecu is mounted inside the car.... stealth mode style.... or some such bs..
My power steering cooler and the steel braided lines.
I figured this will be a good idea since I had to replace 2 power steering pumps back in the day because they kept overheating in the mountains.... It's not a good thing to be jamming out in the twisties and suddenly have no ps!! of course from now on I'm keeping it legal and on the track, but I imagine the "not goodness" is still the same...hehe
And finally for this round.... the tiltons...
The lines for the brake and clutch should be in by wed and then we just have the issue with the throttle cable which we need the adapter piece which hopefully Tilton has in stock so we can order first thing Monday. This is just the pedals installed... as we haven't connected the brake and clutch cyliders and still haven't finished the hard lines.
Oh yeah, apologies... my galaxy S doesn't have a flash.. =( and the wiring still isn't complete so it's a pretty crappy pic lol.... but you can see the new sheet metal plate we welded in to get a flat surface... which we still need to rubber coat.
Still a ways to go with all the guages, the cluster wiring and the defi HUD, but getting there quickly....
Just want to give a serious shot out to Alex from Hypertek in Riverside!!! Thanks for all the hard work meng!
Hopefully I'll be posting some vids of it doing doughnuts next time lol....

Thanks... now the interior is back together... All of the cluster and guages are up and running....
Here's what the new cluster looks like right after we got it in and power to it.
And from the driver side
Here is a little before and after with center console and all that back in place...
Before
and
After
lol You all have been pretty quite since I posted pics... what do you all think? On the right track??

There is still a lot left but with Alex on the job... It should be ready for test driving soon... just waiting for that darn tilton throttle cable adapter, clean up that wiring, rubber coat the new sheet metal floor and to finish hard lines for the brakes and clutch.
lol Maybe it will take a bit longer.... =p

Thanks for the props Iani!
Surprisingly It took me forever to find... like 3 or 4 weeks of searching for one that looked cool, was resonably priced and had the guage requirements I needed.... Speedo, tach, fuel and an Odometer that went over 100k....
Finally found it one day on Summit Racing website... I was like on page 20billion or something in my relentless pursuit to find what I wanted... It didn't even have a picture... but the description matched the basic requirements, as did like50 others... then you go to the pictures in google search and on the company's website only to find out it is hideous or only good for cars designed before 1965... But I did a google hunt for it like all the others... the minute I saw it... I was like "HALLELUIAH!!!" lol...
And that's how it all went down... as lame as that sounds hehe....
It's just so amazing to actually see it light up and in the car... Finally!

Yeah, Actually the LS1 swap made using that cluster soooo much easier because we didn't have to use any standard/metric adapters or the mechanical to electrical speedometer adapter... PITA that one hehe....
Anyway Here's some more pics
A clearer picture of the radiator and power steering fluid cooler from under the car....
What do you do when you have Defi Gauges and no place to tap into the oil lines for temp or pressure??? uhm you get one custome made....lol
Or find someone who makes a custom one... sweeeeeet!!
We're going to have to heat wrap all that gear since its right next to the header... and I mean it's trying to kiss the sucker so bad it might succed lol and that would suck....
Also in this picture.... the connection for the Speed! nice and so conveniently located right next to the header as well... AAAWWEEESOMEEEE.....
Oh on a positive note... got the throttle cable adapter for the Tilton pedal assembly and it looked straight up pimpin'!! That will make next weeks installation of the cable and hard lines much easier....
Alright, till next time!!!

Thanks guys.
Yeah I'm looking forward to riding in the FC with the LS1 in it. Still finishing up all the wiring and then on to the pedal assembly lines. lol... Taking a lot longer that I'd hoped but, little by little... The whole wiring harness will be reloomed when we are done. Already looks fantastic, but so much left to do. lol

Kudos on your build Truslide! It really is awesome.
Buddy of mine on here (Frijolee) took me for a ride in his which looks like it would be your car's twin. 462 whp on 295 Advans...no traction on a roll. OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love boost myself but instant torque is so hard to not consider.
Looking forward to seeing the final outcome

Hi all!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
So, Its been awhile since I was able to work on the car, but got started up again and making good progress. We ran into some issues with the "recommended" fan from Granny's. Basically just make sure you buy a fan right off a ford taurus or directly from the dealership because if try to buy a replacement fan for the taurus... it is not fun... See below
So we had to do a little custom cut and paste...
make our own mounting brakets
And voila! Like a gllove!
We also had to make a new upper radiator hose..
Which came out nicely....
Started up the car and no leaks, power steering works (power steering cooler also working quite well).
Here is a quick video I did....
http://youtu.be/gfDDzRe53lk
Just need to finish up the fan relay switch and then onto the brake and clutch hardlines for the tilton pedal assembly... and then.... to the road...
