My 91 FC3S RHD LS1 Build

My 91 FC3S RHD LS1 Build
I've had this car since June of 2002. It originally started off as a GXL. In 2004 I got a RHD clip off of a race car from Japan (shot out to AeroDuo for the hookup on that) With it I got a tuned motor, OS Giken twin plate clutch (steel), full roll cage and cusco suspension. I then pulled out my NA motor and all the interior and went to work on the the firewall.
I found out the only really way to legally change your car to RHD in cali is to drill out all of the factory welds on the firewalls and swap them over and re-weld in the orginal firewall spots. lol I thought "hey why not"... and I'm not going to lie... 3 months of pretty much doing nothing but drilling out firewalls and rewelding them. But in the end I had my RHD firewall installed
I then went on to have the whole car repainted with a bright escalade white covered with a diamond pearl... I also added on the mazdaspeed front lip, feed widebody kit and rear wangan wing extension. Also courtesy of AeroDuo. The paint was done by my buddy Cesar in Riverside.
Once the painting was done and the car was back together I was able to drive and enjoy it for about 5 years before the engine blew up on me... =( that was two years ago. When that happened I decided it was time to move up a notch and I ordered a LS1 out of a 99 Corvette and got a 6 speed tranny out of a 2001 Camero.
Lol so I dropped it in. (pictures to be added soon) There was only one problem..... Yeah the mounting kit I bought was supposed to be for a RHD LS1... but um yeah that didn't work at all... see the thing is, on the LHD your clutch and brake cylinders are in the corner of the engine bay... on the RHD they are smack dab in the middle of it! So I had to think long and hard about what I wanted to to... order a new mounting kit and have them fix it..... or..... throw in a tilton pedal assembly. Obviously I went with option B. lol
It's amazing how much work on little change can do to a car. In order to get the pedal assembly in properly we had to actually cut out the bottom of the floor sheet metal and weld in a new flat piece (shot out to HyperTek in Riverside). We got those in and started working on the duel exhaust.... and low and behold we found out that the JTR headers end up going strait into the transmission mount... lovely So the transmission mount was remade and then the exhaust completed. It came out looking sweet and sounds even sweeter.
For some reason I was a genius and sold my stock gauge cluster... so I had to get a new one of those. I decided to go with one from dakota digital and their elliptical multi-gauge cluster, complete with speedometer, tach, odometer, water temp, oil temp/press and fuel gauge (sweet). And to top that off with a cherry I happened to have some defi guages that were originally in the car.
What's complete
Coilovers and suspension
stereo sound system (but needs to be put back in the car) and backup camera
RHD conversion
LS1 conversion
Tilton Pedal Assembly
Roll cage
Wide body, front lip and wing extension
Wheels and tires (18" work equips with 2" spacers in front and 2.5" spacers in rear)
Seats (bride Zeta II) w/ sparco harnesses
HID headlights
What's left:
Running the piping for the clutch and brakes on the tilton pedal assembly
Wiring up the Dakota Digital Cluster
The Carbofiber mounting plate for said cluster
installing defi guages
Installing all the sensors for the above bits
putting the sound system back in the car (my rear subs 2 - 10" MTXs and 1 - 12" MTX sub)
Test driving the death machine
Tuning suspension
Mad drifting and tracking of the beast
On the Dream list:
deeeeeeep dish wheels, preferably iforge or HRE
RE-Amemiya body kit and rear diffuser and CF hood
Some more chassis stiffining
Drive my car to Sevenstock 14!!! God willing.
It's been a huge project and so much left to do, but finally somewhat close to finishing. HAHA!!!!

Much cheaper to swap in an LS series engine and transmission than buy a vette or for that matter a camaro.
