okay not really, here are some new shots and here is the to do list to get ready for winter:
(in no particular order)

1. remove sunroof structure/affix sunroof
2. wrap header (have had wrap for quite some time now)
3. fabricate additional skidplate
4. minor gas leak
5. replace heater core

It pays to be too lazy to take your helmet off if you have a camera stuck to the side

The COmanche started out running in one of the AWD classes... then after an emergency stubaxleectomy was required after severe U-jointitis, he ran the afternoon in one of the RWD classes. Sisu!

The guy in the Cobra won our class... by like .4 SECONDS over 5 minutes of run time. I lost to Kevin by three seconds.

I'LL GET YOU NEXT TIME GADGET !!!!

hahah

what they don't have on there is that the manche ran a 43.xx on the final run. They let him finish all his runs from the max's he got in the 1st round due to the mechanical failure.

that thing is a monster for these events, just floats over ruts and soft spots

I haven’t updated this in a while but there haven’t been too many changes, but basically I have just been going through some things. I decided to clean up my electrical fuse panel:
Before:

and after

Then I went racing, did a 2 day event in Ohio for rallycross. Took 3rd overall in my class for the weekend, would have taken 2nd but I blew one run really bad and almost got stuck. Still had a good time, the 2nd place trophy is not as nice because it doesn’t open beer bottles:

Also from that event it was very dusty and I realized that my air filter had basically failed and I had to create a ghetto filter for the rest of the event.

So after that I do some more racing, go to Muskegon for furrin group’s 1st rallyX. My first run I blew the clutch. 3rd to 1st shifts make clutch angry. It was stuck engaged:

got a little muddy at another event:

Decided to further enhance my air filter situation by longer horns and new filters

then I race some more and loose a nut on one of my suspension bits causing the toe to change in corners and the axle separated:

fixed it and drove home but DNF for that day after the 1st heat.

I have always hated my cooling system, mostly just tired of going through stock radiators. So I call my friends at griffin 

and some help from TRF again on mounting (I cannot weld, especially aluminum)

I never have cooling issues now, except when I went to this magical place called snowdrift!!!!!!

I required lots of cardboard to keep it from over cooling with the radiator and hood setup.

So here is the current fleet (not in current weather conditions)

except the front bumper is slowly becomming sticker bomb, with actual stickers

Updates? I'm going to be trying to get into Rally in the next <5 years with hopefully a spare RX7 (don't want to run a Turbo class and don't want to sacrifice my current DD/baby). This thread is facking awesome.

No updates really. Went ice racing once this year but I have no photos, had a few rallyX's here are some shots

Engine is starting to go down on power, burns LOTS of oil now. Expect an engine build in this thread soon enough

Here is a preview of what to come.

Okay pics as promised. I do not have interior shots and wont for some time. however...
In these bags are mint condition S4 4 port irons. These side plates are in great condition, no wear and still show the original machining marks. Un ported currently.

Got bored when I had the powder coat-er still, left to right: t2 oil pump, bling'd out WP housing, mazdaspeed motor sports comp front LCA bushings

for these that I've had laying around. again more powdercoated stuffs.

Powdercoated front cover, NEW mazda oem oil pan and competition pan baffle.

oh my and what are those stat gears????

Yes they are from the Rx8, enhanced oiling properties from the 3 window bearing and hardened gears. capable of 10krpm out of the box.

And now some shots of the housings, picked up some s4 NA housings, in great shape! look how dull the surface is and there is no flaking! just some normal ammount of corner seal wear.

They are un ported as of yet and I have to install these badboys from another set of "good" housings:

And what you cant identify, from left to right:

FD corner seal springs
Compeition needle bearings
FD apex seal springs inner (same part# as FC)
FD apex seal springs outer (same part# as FC)
FD oil pressure regulator (rear, front can be shimmed)
FC front cover gasket
E-shaft compeition plug jets
FD side seals
FD side seal springs

all new in box from mazda

whats left to acquire:
S5 NA 9.7:1 engine rotors
rx8 e-shaft
misc gaskets and seal kit.
corner seals

I was thinking of building my FC for time attack. But after reading this thread....Rally looks a hell of a lot more fun.

Race car just got a bit safe car!

safety first!

now the car is even more unstreetable and not many people below 6' I think are able to drive it now.

more updates soon to come.

also we managed in the process of leaning over things and stuff that I broke another center console, going to need to source a new one of those.

and what you see here is 95% complete rotary engine in pieces: only thing missing is corner seals and o-ring kit, but I want a few more goodies before I build:

now I am starting the prep work of cleaning every damn bit that is going to be re-used.

Seats worked great! I have a grant steering wheel that is the same diameter as the stock non power steering version but I need to make an spacer to bring it closer to me.

anyways here are some recent shots! the engine is a bit down on a power, hot start "issues" and it is a blue fog machine at idle.

Yes those are spare wheels and these are the tires for the less hard packed events or fields:

they are old michilen ice racing WRC tires (don't quote me on that exactly)

I have almost everything I need for the rebuild, got some new porting bits and a template from Pineapple Racing.

Just had my rear rx8 stationary gear machined to fit the o-ring (I was not going to use RTV)

I have the rotor housings welded to cover the fresh air injection ports or what I like to call the oil dilluters.

Just delt with a rotor fiasco on the boards here but long story short I returned them and paypal refunded my money and at this time I found an engine locally that had been rebuilt by banzai at one time but had now failed.. I will be opening it up this weekend to see what went wrong, the engine was in a lemons car. (didnt start out that way)

and here is the link to the banzai build.
Banzai Racing (Burford RX-7 Engine Installation)

it does have turbo inserts which is nice, but I already have some lol.

RXR 6.3.G. "...A space-saving wheel designated by a manufacturer for
temporary low speed use and for transiting a short distance may not be used
for competition regardless of the type of tire installed..."

Hope those aren't 'designated'

Looking forward to another MR showdown at I-96 in July.
