those spacers are horrible. not hub-cenbtric and will make make your wheels unbalanced.

Well, I hope you don't have to get rid of the car. This is a great progress thread. I'm working on a track car as well and never thought of the doors. I'm still a little skeptical in regards to gutting just for the thought of wrecking on the track. Guess depends on the cage design.

Keep on the good work and keep us posted.

Doesn't really matter since the wheels are likely lug-centric... Are there even spacers made that convert hub-centric to lug-centric?

Door gutting job looks really good. I did the same on mine but cut a little further and saved a little more weight. Awesome job.

The spacers are project kics 8mm slip on spacers. The tires are 205/50/15 Federal 595 RSR. The 0 offset might not clear the 4 pot brakes but maybe. I hope I can keep the car. It's not a matter of money though.

With a cage the doors will be fine. Thanks for the kind words.

Exactly. No I don't believe there are spacers that do that since that is the wheels job.

I decided to keep a little more of the door just for structure purposes. I can fully swing the door closed and it will line right up and not wobble like my friends s14 that he did the same thing too.

Thanks for all the kind works everyone I hope I can keep the car I'll know early next week. I've just had some problems with school that my parents may freak out over and make me get rid of the car. If that happens, I promise I'll be back!

Alright so for now it looks like I will be keeping the car But I have some things I have to pay off before anything can be done to the car. So the cage is probably going to be pushed back for now.

I will be starting my new job in two weeks and will be getting paid more which should help move things along quicker. I am going to be working at MAAC motorsports which deals with more american cars but I'm not in it for the american cars lol. Also looking to pick up a night job at a local grocery store just to bring in some extra cash flow.

Just going to be doing little things till I start making some money again. I still need to grind down all the rough edges on my doors and get the sound deadening out of the front of the car.

Went out to Top Drift Round 1 this past weekend buddy I went with was having some major engine issues and we left early as we couldn't fix the car He is starting to hate his SR20 and leaning toward LSX swap. Anyways saw maybe three Rx-7's out there on practice day which was cool! It's kind of sad to see how little Japanese motors are still being used and makes me glad I am keeping the wankle in the car.

I'm getting some crazy ideas flowing through my head right now with the car like rear mounted radiator and some other things I'll get to later. Any thoughts on this??

Well that is about it I'm really just glad I can keep the car I was not ready to let her go so soon!

Hope your new job(s) help speed up progress on this cool project. It's nice to see a track car that doesnt have crazy camber and 11" wide wheels sticking out with geo metro tires. Keep up the good work!

As in the rear of the car, somewhere near the rear bumpers? What purpose would a rear mounted radiator serve? I can't see that being anything but an absolute plumbing and airflow disaster. I'm not trashing your idea, just wondering how far along in the thought process you are.

This would even us some weight distributiongetting rid of the weight that is hanging over the front support. It would be near the rear hatch and have ducting throught the hatch lexan. Only thing id have to do is find a way to mount it with light material.

With the stock motor the weight ratio of an rx7 is at 50/50 if I'm not mistaken. Doing a rear mounted radiator wouldnt be worth it in my opinion. I dont know if you have but you could always relocate the battery if you want to save weight in the front.

Well I got bored the other day so I decided to do something cheap for the car lol. I think it looks pretty cool and separates the black tire from the black wheel a little bit.

Let me know what you think!

Alright new update time! I'm pretty excited about this one. I was looking into how much a seat base and sliders would be and even with my discounts I wasn't liking them too much. So I picked up some Recaro side mounts from a friend for cheap. I then was able to mount those directly to the stock sliders.

So here in a closer pic you can see all I had to do was cut out little section of the side mount for it to fit flush against the stock slider.

After that it was just a bolt in process everything fit perfectly and I have a ton of head room. I am pretty proud of my self for thinking of this and saving myself some money. Here are some more pictures of the seat mounted in.

Let me know what you guys think! Thanks for looking!!

I like what you did with the tires! The seat looks great and you have done good work on everything.
As far as a rear mount radiator goes I think it would be a bad idea. Even with air ducts you would have insufficient airflow and with coolant traveling all the way to the rear of the car I'm almost positive it wouldn't flow well. I'm not an expert on water pumps, but I don't think the 13b water pump would be able to work efficiently with a rear radiator. In some rear or mid engined cars, I notice a lot of front mounted radiators. But how many front engined cars do you see with a rear mounted radiator?
I think it's a good idea, but if you account for all of those different variables then you would be looking at a fairly expensive project with little gains.

Thanks. The radiator was just an idea that crossed my mind. You bring up valid points.

Today I bought some dry ice to start taking out more sound deadening but ended running out of ice and time, so i'll hopefully finish that this week sometime. I didn't take any pictures as there isn't much to show that you haven't seen already. I'll get some pictures once it's all done. I did take some pictures of the car as it sat in my garage though.

God I love my fitment!!

Since I have this week with no work I'm trying to get some more things done with the car and I am wondering what you all think. I'm not completely sure if I want to delete my rats nest or not. Anyone care to drop some knowledge on me about it. I will be searching as much as possible in the mean time. That about wraps it up this time. Next update I should have the sound deadening out completely. Thanks for looking!

Thanks!

Little update just ordered some CBR side mirrors to lighten up the doors some more. Also will be purchasing the J Auto rear camber arm later this week.

Here are the mirrors I'll get some pics of them on the car once I get them. I chose to go with these because they are cheap and most aftermarket mirrors have low visibility and these don't.

Got a little work done to the car today. I separated the headlight motors from the headlight frames and got rid of them. Then I was staring at the engine and decided I wanted to clean everything and remove the useless harness it had. Now I didn't take any before pictures as it was such a spur of the moment idea but here is a pic from earlier in my build that may show how dirty and covered the engine was in crap.

Anyways here are some after shots of everything cleaned up.

And with the rats nest back in

I am actually surprised at how clean everything got

I am not looking forward to figuring this mess out

Well that is it for today. Tomorrow I will have the treat of working with John Mueller over at Mullerized... which should be fun, if I see anything interesting I'll snag a few pics. If you have not heard of him I suggest you check out his shop sometime he is truely a master at his work and has a huge background in Mazda's. I'm really looking forward to picking his brains and maybe hearing some stories of his racing career back with his Mazda's. We will see what he has in store for me! Till then thanks for looking!!
