correct. since its a stand alone ecu ment for many vehicles, it requires a preliminary or base map to get you into the ball park of where you need to be as far as settings go.
when i say ball park, i mean it could very well be in there, but like... 200 miles underground.

well, thats why its tunable. it depends on the engine and the variables are soo great that one cannot create a basemap that will work on all cars.
all in all, haltechs are amazing ecu's. sometimes they can get complicated, but the answer to any and all questions have been answered.

HA HA HA!! epic bump. so you know how i have a super nintendo??
Blamo. all in yo FACE!!
Ok, back to business. so i stopped working at the college, and now i work for DIYAutoTune doing tech support for them. yuppers.
anyways, my life has been busy as i picked up a 3rd job so... yeah. the rx7 went on the back burner and all i could do was attempt to start it every once in a while. well, it wouldnt.
i lied. it would, but it would burble and sputter. oh no. it was rich as hell and seemed like it was running on only one rotor, then sometimes clear up. hm... i suspected the coil packs that i mangled the wiring on, but no. i decided to take my old working fuel maps from the e6x, and import them on a spare map in my new sport 2000. after doing this, i would import only those areas of the tune and once i did that, i tried it. well, it seemed to be better, but not a whole lot. i decided to look at the spark plugs. The front rotors where in there quite good, but when out there where loaded with carbon. the wire brush solved the issue nicely and then i proceeded to attempt to take the rears out. they where looser than a 5 dollar hooker. i mean, they came out by hand, and when i looked at them, they where completely coated in oil, and gasoline. past fouled. no worries, hit it with a wire wheel and a can of citrus degreaser. plunked them in, and prayed. she fired right up. so now the car starts just fine (ill get new plugs) and i will go ahead and start to button up the wireing harness.
the new coil packs will go in when i start to tune the car. so far, i have to build a bracket for them, a wiring harness for them, and get spark plug wires for them. hm... i have collected bits of scrap wire from around teh job as there are bits here and there, so i will use those.
im wondering if anyone can lend me a schematic? nevermind. i forgot where i worked. HAHA!!
now, on to intercoolering. i dont know where im at yet, but im still leaning VERY heavily on water cooling. getting a spare oil cooler from a 2nd gen and a simple pump would work out fine. the oil cooler will ofcourse be modded to bypass the thermo pellet that is inside.

no response? o well.
anyways, got the IGN-1A's all bracketed up. ITs rough, but i will make changes to it.
next is to figure out an ok place to mount this bracket. i can mount it any old place, but id like to keep it around where the stock location is. up in the front. if i have to tilt it, i will.
anyways, next course of action is to wire these puppies up. I have enough wire at my disposal to do so. Im not worried. next i need to find some spark plug wires that fit. hm....

I got the ms2 v3.57and built and installed the zeal daughter board. my laptop dosent want to connect to the damn thing all of the sudden though so thats pissing me off but its what ever for now. I mounted my stock coil packs under the dash on the tranny tunnal were my heater core used to be, and ran my spark plug wires out through the fire wall. you could do somthing like that it would keep the engine bay a little less cluterd.

so for now, ill just go ahead and mount them in the engine bay. thinking of putting them all the way forward. in front of the radiator. hm....

Just an update. never mounted the coils as it was such a nice day outside for many days. screw it, gonna not work on the car. still need to finish up th mounting bracket and get some plug wires. then some settings and off to the races.
i got my tune dialed in now to the point where i can easily start the car cold or hot. done. One of the major hurdles that was plaguing me.
next on the list, idle control, and a frikkin intercooler and ill be good to go.

Well, here is an update as such.
I got let go from DIYautotune. We need not go there.
I got numerous jobs in the 2013, and then i got one IT support job in 2014. It got soo crazy and i found myself a GF and the rx7 fell to the wayside. needless to day, the battery in it has died (i will attempt to revive it with an optima battery charger) and i will attempt to sprice it up and tune it now that i have most everything i wanted installed (coil packs STILL waiting to go in, as well as an intercooler).
right now, i have only a weekend job so thats being hard on me right now, but im working on it slowly as all interest that i have lost, is slowly coming back.

Small ish update. I yanked the wipers and the air intake at the base of the window. it has always bothered me since its soo full of leaves and nuts. i dont want it to turn into soil and then rot that area all out. plus the grill was all dented and scrapped up. after yanking it and cleaning it up and painting it, its looking pretty minty fresh.
I finally gotmyself a job but i also got myself a new battery.
Also, good thing rising RPM was around when i got the idle valve adaptor. that thing has helped a ton. so now it cranks, and idles and starts up when its hot. time to spruce it up some and do an oil change and coolant flush. yup.

Yeah i know. Its been long overdue. Seems that sometimes when you have another car and the RX7 isnt your daily any more, you can take the time to make better more educated decisions about things (as well as fix the small things that irritated you along the way)
I still have yet to mount the coils, but i should be ok with them. I may want to reinvent the wheel with the way they are wired in (new switched power wires going to them from a fuse block where the glove box used to be. it should work out way better as i will redo the wireing. I have the ign-1a coils available to me, so ill keep them (i have the plugs wired, but not a harness made up. i will make a harness for them when i have a bracket created for them and mounted how i like (i can mount them, but they are not solid mounted. bothers me) so i will just wait on that and foxus on getting the wireing for the existing coils done since they seem to work out just fine for people.
so right now, i have some things to get done with first (i want to bring it back to drivable condition and spruce it up some. it just bothers me that the winter season is here and it will get dirtier) so yeah. thats all i have to go for now. it runs, starts and drives. im trying to figure out in my brain the right way to go about an air to water intercooler, so i have decided on that rout, but the best way to get it done is still eluding me.
