Thanks guys,

Planning to do some body work after this. Other front bumper with some bigass holes in it. And then something like a v-mount with dual oil coolers and turbo upgrade.

Got it stripped down almost further then i tought i would. But i've got the feeling the some of it isn't comming back.

I am making good progress. Bumpers, front panels, gastank, exhaust, drive shaft, lower interior has all been removed. Unfortunately many bolts snapped, another challenge..

Goin to make a start to get the engine clean so i can get it out. Followed by the tranny and complete front and rear suspension assemblies.

BTW,

Thinking about removing the ABS, do i keep my master cylinder or do i need to swap for one from a diff model? And why? thx

If I had half the parts you have in your fc I would be satisfied. This build is amazing

Havent done much lately. Couldnt do much last weekend, 2 days later i got my self a welding machine so i could continue.

engine compartment is pretty much stripped down now.
Al the dirty spots are clean as much as possible
Needed to cut and replace a piece with the help of some cardboard to make a template.
Yesterday a clean up followd by fertan rust converter.
Until this afternoon i had to wait for it to dry followed by another cleanup with water (fertan is water based).

Nou it is ready for some epoxy primer, tomorow probable normal primer and then we can sand it for primer and / or colour.

Does the ABS master cylinder have a sensor on the bottom of the cylinder? If so, I have it, and would like to remove it. I hate ABS...

Only have a fluid level sensor, nothing else is on the master cylinder, if that is what you meant?

small change in plans.

I want a coilover set from the dutch company intrax racing. But, they dont have set for this type for car yet. They do for the FD but not for fc so it needs to be made and for that they need the car. And that is quiet impossible at this moment lol.

So got more room in the budget, koni schocks stay untill somewhere summer to get it there for the set to be made.

First parts have arived.

After collecting these items i've payed a visit at Intrax racing along with my curent koni shocks. I had a nice chat with the owner who owned one of the first rx7's. Around june / july the car will be brought to intrax were they will custom make a set of coilovers including fitting and alignment.

I've also removed all the damping on the inside except the firewall. Cleaned it up for sanding later on. Also looked for bad spots in the body and unfortunately found them aswell.

Coming along. Please do not overlap that panel with the rocker. See thread

What you mean with the rocker exactly?

And it is meant to replace, overlapping is just a way of hiding the rust inst it? :P

Body work takes lots and lots of time, but there is progress.

I stopped thinking and started cutting. Made 3 replacement pieces but need to cut more before i can make more replacment pieces.

2012 is about 9 hours from here were i live, have a good one, and happy new year.

I had to repair rust in those exact same spots on two of my cars. Rust dust to the eye sucks. Hope you have good chemistry goggles.

I bought a sand blaster specifically for this job. It makes removing the undercoating and paint easier but it is a huge mess. I'm still not sure how to fix rust inside those areas. I left it alone and I'm hoping it doesn't come through anywhere else before I'm done driving the car. I read about liquid wax fogging tips on flexible shafts that can go inside the panels and coat them with wax but it's a preventative job.

Time for a long waited update.

I have been in snowboarding in france for a week so not much work has been done.

Welded a couple of things, not pretty but it is out of sight and hard to reach. The piece i tried to weld today wasn't a great succes either. Only tried a few prop welds, and a few failed :S After that i ran out of gas..damnit..

More intresting is that i stripped down the engine last week, including the flywheel.

Delivered it at a specialist here in holland today were it will be pulled appart to see if something can be found. I am going to try to be there either at the moment it will be pulled appart, or short after it has been done to have a look and to make a decision about what to do.

No extreme faults or damage is expected but you can't tell from the outside. It will be rebuild with new seals and just a few small mods. Banzai racing oil pan stud kit will be placed allong with a racing beat baffle plate. And maby some mazda competition bearings. But i'll need to think that over and discuss what is smart to do.

Last thing is that i brought some new goodies with me also. Mazda competition differential mounts. Now the only thing i need to find out is what i want to do with the subframe bushes, after that i think i have all the bushes that i can think off.
