New Update! (no pictures, but those should come fairly soon)
The bumper and valance aren't surprising - they got taken out by a groundhog hit on the highway last year. Same with the right brake duct. So now I'm looking for those bits if anyone has them, along with the door panels that I still haven't found.
I'll be re-doing the majority of the engine bay harness from scratch, it will be a hell of a job but I'd rather have good wiring in there that I know is solid since electrical issues are the worst issues in the world to troubleshoot.
I'm looking forward to pictures once it's on the spit!

Its bascially all stripped now, just have to get it physically mounted to the spit. Very little welding and creativity left for mounting it.
What I've found in the front......there's no right inner fender I have one on the parts car though. Both of the steel brake ducts are pretty much shot. The right one is a crumpled pile of rusty junk, the left one is just really rotted. Not sure if you even want to put them back on, none of the one's I have on the parts car are any good either. The front bumper......really has alot of torn tabs on it. The lower valance is the same. I know we talked about limited availablity etc. but I might start poking around and seeing if I can find any - you may want to also. I can use the ones here, but I'll be unconfident that the bolts will hold it all together (the lower to the upper mostly) since 80% of the tabs are either ripped right off, or are now slots where they should be holes.
Also found some strange rust holes inside the cabin, where your feet would sit. I believe the sunroof drains are either out of place or split and leaking into a cavity there, will report back on that one.
So - mounting to spit next week, should be blasted by the end of the week

Here's what I was thinking
TII Irons (4-port)
Any FC rotor housings
S5 N/A Rotors (9.7:1)
Rx8 Stat Gears and E-shaft (hardened stat gears, lightened e-shaft)
12a front cover
GSL-SE Oil Pan
And all the little things like the thermal pellet, conversion to an FMOC, street/strip clutch, lightweight steel flywheel, etc...
So parts from right across the generations! The only generation not represented is the FD, which really doesn't have much to offer a carb'd N/A build!

What about ignition. You'll want to beef that up as well. Lots o options out there.

I'm leaning towards the second one despite the fact that it will mean more wiring and more complexity, mainly because you can't beat full-out electronic ignition. Plus, wires can be hidden, and a CAS makes the top of the engine look cleaner... And it'll confuse the McCrap out of any passing rotorheads - "Wait, is that a Sterling? But he's got a CAS? How the heck does he have a CAS on a carb'd car?"
I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a simple ignition-only computer like the Megasquirt but without the whole fuel control side.

DLIDFIS works for me. Heck I have a MegaSquirt and would like to go DLIDFIS with it to reduce the complexity (and because ignition on the three LED controllers is kind of a hack).

i'd check on the brake ducts too, seems like when i bought a set, they were a little hard to get and that was 10 years ago!

Hopefully someone's got a set around here somewhere, though if the door panels are any indication, it's harder to find parts on here than it once was.

Yeah, but through BlackDragonAuto the valance is $500 and the bumper is $700. Those prices are in USD. With conversion, tax, and shipping I'm likely to be up around $2,000CDN. I'll pass thanks.
