New to the rotary world..
I just picked up an 85 GSL auto. What parts warehouses do you guys recommend? Also, what is you opinion on the automatics in these cars? There seems to be a lot automatics around, So I'm guessing there should be some on here. I want to do an auto to manual swap. but should I.. The car is all original with a near perfect exterior and interior. What is your opinion on modifying an original clean car?
Any advance is appreciated

The auto cars are a real dog. I have one that I'm converting to manual. You will not get the real rotary engine experience without having a manual trans.
Here is a recent thread from another member on his auto - manual conversion. https://www.rx7club.com/build-thread...built-1092028/

Thanks kansascityrepu, Im really considering the conversion. The hardest part will be locating all the bits and pieces for it. Any suggestions on where to get all the parts?

The for sale section is a good place to look or ebay. Short list. There are some parts that can be had from other models, but I'm keeping this simple.
1. 5 speed trans from 1984-1985
2. brake and clutch peddles along with long peddle bolt and a few sensors on the peddles. (1984-1985)
3. Starter for manual trans (1981-1985)
4. 1984/1985 flywheel
5. 225m clutch disc, plate, throughout bearing, eccentric shaft pilot bearing or go with lightweight flywheel and use auto counter weight.
6. Trans harness from 5 speed
7. Clutch master and slave cylinders along with steal braided clutch line.
8. Shiftier plastic for center dash piece.
9. 1984-1985 drive shaft
10. 1984-1985 manual trans cross member
11. Fabricate trans bracket - see link I posted.
12. Sell auto counter weight and make a little money back if not used for light weight flywheel.

I did the conversion a few years back and it took a day. Was completely worth it. I made a thread on it with pics. If you're interested I'll post it up.
Personally, I would not hesitate to do the swap. If done properly there will be no way to tell that the car was not a manual trans 7 from the start. Other than modifying the trans mount of course.
