Kindof bent at you for cutting up those nice original bins to put speakers in. Other than that, the car looks great.

The SA never came with storage bins. They are NOT original. Thanks for the comment though.

You are the second person to bring this up, I didn't ruin anything by chopping these up. It was the PO who chopped up the car to put these in if you wanna get technical about it.

Pic from yesterday:

Right now the engine bay is getting some work done.. the carb had been leaking fuel since I bought it and the more I drove the worse it got. Yeah.. I could have just let it go but seeing as I just lost my job and have some down time I tore into it...

As you can see the intake manifold and stock nikki carb is gone along with all those nasty rat's nest of vac lines. Next issue was the OMP, I already pre-mix and my new set-up won't need it so I fabricated myself a block off plate:

So far so good.. a webber 45 and IM is coming my way by Tuesday

It's all mocked up, just missing a gasket... will be here Friday I think.

The threads for the brake booster were a bit stripped but I trimmed the manifold some and it's all good now.

I got some goodies in the mail today so I changed the spark plugs and did this:

So I had the car towed to Kilo Racing in St. Cloud, they removed the whole thing because I didn't do such a great job of removing the old gasket and there was a slight vac leak. Once he got everything back on he set the idle and messed with the jets a bit, he might have swapped them out but I'm not sure. The only remaining problem was the throttle didn't wanna go back to idle so we had to rig in a spring. Everything is well and running right now but the gas pedal still seems too soft, I tightened the spring by shortening it some and it helped a little so I'm either just gonna have to get use to a light gas pedal or get a stiffer spring. I guess it'll do for now.

Swapped in a stiffer throttle return spring and it feels much better!

Thanks! The guy who tuned my carb put a spring on it but it was just way too soft.. it's the one in the picture a few posts back. I just threw it in the glove box to have as a back-up but I got a stiffer spring because the pedal was too soft and opening the throttle too fast sometimes. Is it possible to have too stiff of a spring on it? I just don't wanna break anything by it closing too hard..

Also, do I really need a FPR with a return or can I just run it as is without a fuel return?

I dont think you'll have any problems with a stiffer spring. Shouldnt damage anything. My pedal was always super touchy when I had my old mikuni 44 sidedraft setup cause of the soft spring.

I also never ran a FPR on that setup. Was a mikuni 44phh on a 13b GSL-SE motor. I also didnt get good gas mileage though. It isnt nessecary, but will help.

From what I've read it may help extend the life of my fuel pump but that's about it, I'm just not use to not using a return.. guess it'll be okay though.

The foam stacks I ordered had been waiting here for me for about 2 weeks but they're on now that I'm home!

They don't seem restrictive as I didn't notice a difference with them on, at least now I don't have to imagine bits of sand being dragged along by apex seals!
