Just found this build. Looks amazing; I'm jealous.
I have the same bumper but was told its knightsport. I may have missed it but can you give me more info on it? |
The original design was Knightsport, PFS which was a pretty famous Fd tune shop circa 1993-2013 had molds made of the original knightsports and duplicates made. They started selling them off as "PFS front facias" and sold a lot of them around DC/Va/Md area. I'd say if your local to the east coast your more likely to have a PFS bumper than an actual night sports bumper.
I've never seen a Knightsport one, the PFS version is really high quality. Very thick and durable. |
nah im out west and its more likely that it came from a front cut from japan given the cars history. i just wasnt sure if i was given false info so i thought id ask. makes sense. its a great bumper, fits the oil coolers perfectly.

Of course, I wouldn't want to steal you color schema. I'm wanting to do a dark blue though.

Well I don't know about any of you guys but I am done with winter. I have been snowed in all day and I'm bored to tears, Not sure why I have plenty of things I should be doing but I digress, I thought I'd post.
I haven't made any significant progress on the car but have the ball rolling in the right direction. Until the weather warms up I am not going to finish wet sanding and buffing out the paint. Not to mention I have to re-do the drivers side fender. That being the case i changed gears and turned my attention to the suspension. I've removed all of the pieces and started pressing out the pillow balls and bushings. i ordered a super pro kit from J-Auto a few months ago. Juan was a nice guy and I would recommend him if anyone is looking, His price on OEM pillow balls was actually less than what Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda could offer them at if you can believe that. The biggest problem that I encountered with pressing out the bushings is articulating the parts in my press. I actually broke one piece of bar I was using and caught my finger pretty good doing so. This was yesterday. I have not pressed the new bushings into place yet. I ordered some zero fittings off of Amazon and was going to drill the control arms for the zero fittings to avoid any possible future squeaks that might arise, although I have searched and did not find anyone complaining of that. Here are a few pics to stare at. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7398/...0cd55888_c.jpg DSCN0474 by iojinxoi https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3723/...942fe458_c.jpg DSCN0471 by iojinxoi https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7297/...b79d114b_c.jpg DSCN0470 by iojinxoi https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7428/...e8d980b9_c.jpg IMG_3963 by iojinxoi |
Completely off topic but again, I'M SNOWED IN WITH NOWHERE TO GO.... REDRUM...REDRUM..
So I picked up this RE street diffuser and some Feed side skirts off of Fritz this past summer. Should make the car look diabolical. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7373/...60c7c8f1_c.jpg DSCN0475 by iojinxoi No fake shit here.... https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2805/...27484071_c.jpg DSCN0476 by iojinxoi |
And I pulled out the A/C equipment along with the sway bar and the steering rack.
I just ordered some boots and tie rod end from Mazda Trix a few minutes ago to freshen up the rack. I also went ahead and ordered a new Racing beat front sway bar. That should just about wrap up the front suspension. I have no plans to do a new sway on the rear, I want that nice and soft. I will however order some softer rear diff bushing mounts. I think the Super pros may transmit to much vibration. I was considering the Pettit offering, Anyone have any thoughts? https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7314/...c705026f_c.jpg IMG_3976 by iojinxoi, on Flickr As far as the A/C is concerned. I have to do some more homework, started reading up on it last night before the eyes got heavy and I Zonked out. I want to have as cold A/C as possible, what ever it takes is my motto there. Anyway random photo of the stripped out engine bay. https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2845/...b9ee896d_c.jpg IMG_3977 by iojinxoi |
This picture just makes for an interesting comparison.

Looking good man. So much win in this thread. Can't wait to see what u do with the interior
|
Wow! Nice legit RE-A parts! I wish I had the same connections as Fritz....the possibilities would be endless.
Good work buddy, I've always loved the direction this build has taken. |
Wow, love the build. I molded my side vents in too 3 years ago and loved the look.
Curious how you didn't get overspray on everything in your shop? Do you have a pic of the setup when you actually sprayed? Looks amazing, keep up the awesome work. |

As far as my set up, your looking at it. I did the doors, fenders, hood and hatch on folding stands . I did the body right as it sits on jack stands. I had to use extra works lights so I could see what I was doing but that is about the only extra step I took for set up. How well have your vents held up so far? |
