My Street/Track Definite Keeper Build
#27
Car looks mint I like the wing it gives it that time attack look what do you think about the defi gauges I have the same and thinking about upgrading due to the wires going into the controller are pulling out of the plugs?
#28
Hahaha I sold them a while ago. My old Recaros are up for sale now.
Thanks. My old defi wires also started coming out. I think those are the Achilles of the setup. However, replacements are cheap and you can even get eBay fake wires.

Check out the for sale thread. They're okay but I would take it to an upholstery shop and let them do their magic on it. I was quoted $150 to fix it and even using suede on the heavy traffic area.

So to get the car ready for single turbo and e85, I first decided to upgrade all the essentials before going at it. Settled with Injector Dynamics ID850 and ID2000, PTFE lines, nickel plated fittings, Walbro 400 E85, and Tomei Type S fuel pressure regulator. You can purchase the fuel kit minus the pump on my signature.

I ended up going single turbo using the Garage Life kit! The power is plenty but because of an upcoming track day, we didn't manage to strap it onto a dyno for the number. I'm still waiting for my Adaptronic so once it's here, I'll be hitting the dyno.
Turbo with the thick walled manifold and oil return AN fittings:

Hanging out with all the BMWs at Buttonwillow:
After a full 20min session on the track:
Track day cut short because of a rubbing harness that I didn't tuck up enough:
Only photo I have from the track:

whoa jason i had no idea you were tracking this thing.
how were your intake temps? most of the FD track guys dont have issues with oil temp or coolant temp.
sucks about the harness!!!!

Yup! I track all my cars! Intake temp was good, around 16C and oil never went past 65c and water stayed at 80c

Since the last update, the motor was pulled and chain bridged by Daniel over Garage Life! I had it painted 787 like color but now in hindsight, I don't really like it.
During this time, I figured it was a good time to get a new ECU so I picked up the Adaptronic ECU.
This was how the car sat for a while until I picked up a daily.
I decided it was time to stop daily driving the rx7 and be a responsible adult.
However, being responsible was soon thrown out the window since I had to rebuild the motor due to a seized oil pump:
This was in February and I didn't want to miss out on track season so I turned the civic into a track car.

Around May, track season was ending for me since I refuse to go out in the 100F+ desert. This means the itch came back to finish the FD so that is where I'm at.
Picked up a clutch and flywheel made by ORC Ogura Racing Clutch. My old ACT couldn't handle the power and slipped past 410rwhp. Hopefully this clutch can handle the torque more than the ACT.
Cleaning the engine bay was a real bitch as I was prepping it for POR15. It was covered in 20+ years of grime and oil. This corner was the result after 2 hours.
This is how the car sits as I wait for a bunch of parts from Japan and getting it ready to be painted.
I may have missed a few photos or videos but those are all on my instagram.

I have a HKS one on order. I was originally going to order the Greddy one but since I was ordering when I was groggy, I accidentally purchased the HKS one. I don't mind the HKS but it's a bit more if you're adding in the radiator. Also, the HKS IC core seems much bigger than the Greddy and might be a problem when getting a filter to fit on the single turbo. However, it's a nice looking kit and I think it would, without a doubt, be the kit to get if I were to have kept my AC.

Just an update since the last one. Fuel lines and fitting for fuel swirl pot came in and so did the ABS delete with Tilton brake proportioning valve.
I also ordered a red Bride Zeta 3 to match my other red Zeta 3.
Moved to the new house so started moving things over.
My Borg Warner S360 and Stage 8 locking hardware came in.

After a few months of sitting at my friend's shop due to not having any parking places in a town home, it's finally home in the new house.
Racing Beat clutch line courtesy of my friend Bruce over at Racing Beat.
Since I threw away useless tools that I didn't need, I had to pick up a few tools at Harbor Freight with my friends.
Back to the FD with the hardware installed on the turbo
Engine bay was recently painted, engine dropped back in with the new clutch and now waiting on a few parts from Japan. As of today, this is how it sits.
Made a collage with my friend's wheels and mine.
