It goes in the spare tire area in the trunk and serves as a very cool storage unit. Will look like crap in Phil's car though, so I offer to take it off his hands and install it in my beater

Phil, what is the ETA on the build?

I believe they have other than 4 point. I got the 4 point because it was street legal belt and I don't think I'm going to ever need more... But we shall see

Those are rad..... How much did they run you? I'm guessing those are FIA approved till 2014/15? I'm looking into the crow harnesses as well but can't go wrong with takata =-)

manny, not sure what you're budget for seatbelts are but I've had both takatas and crows. the crows were a lot more comfortable then the takatas. just recently though i installed a set of schroth nybrid II in my miata. These are by far the best feeling 6 point harness I have every experienced. They are easy to put on and adjust and take off too.

Schroth Racing Harnesses

the lower lap belts are made of a softer 2" webbing which makes it easier to adjust then 3". Also the adjustment straps have plastic rods in them for easy of grabbing and tightening yourself in. you can specify wrap around for the top two and clip in for the sides and 6th points.

These are FIA approved. Mainly for small timer like me that does track days and drive it on the road and be road legal.

If you are looking for FIA approved (usually not street legal), you would have to go with their camlock system.

Also, My seats are FIA approved and another reason, I went with these (Drift III).

Correction.. I just realized I said the black Takatas are FIA approved but I actually meant to say, "These are NOT FIA approved".

Sept. 30th, 2012

I'm debating about the interior and test fit the Takata Harness on the Spirit R Recaros.

Let me know what you prefer?

Also, got my VS-XX refinished/powder coated and put new Toyo T1-Sport tires. I've heard great things about these and can't wait to test them out.

I personally don't like the use of a 4-5 point harness on the recaro's. Pretty much just from the point of looks, you spent a butt load of money on the seats because of how nice they look, and you're going to end up covering half the seats with seat belt straps.

If you're going to be using the car on the track and you can also hide the harnesses for street driving then that's cool. Otherwise if it's just going to be a street car I would prefer to use the original belt.

Phil, everything is coming together nicely

I'll be curious to see how you like those new Toyos.

Re: the harnesses/seats, be careful with the SRs under any serious cornering...... mine really flexed alot and I could tell that eventually they would crack. Someone has posted pictures of his set cracked at the base from road racing. For the street I'm sure they're fine though.

Yup, that someone was me... cracked the seat near the rail bracket mounting hole on the shell. Bottom mount flexes way to much under high G corners. For a serious track car a side mount race seat is a must... keep Spirit R's for street/show.

Here are the pics of my cracked RZ's ---> https://www.rx7club.com/west-sale-wa...-rails-979142/
