Update on my Rotary cars...

First the SSM FD...

I finally got the tires mounted and balanced.. I'm going to go pick up the car and try to mount these.

MB FD.. I had a photo shoot with a local photographer and I had a chance to snap few pics while the car was set up..

Here are couple of pictures I snapped..

Update on my SSM..

Picked up my SSM and installed the new RX8 40th anniversary wheels..

Couple of new info about these wheels... the hub centric is same as FD. I know the older RX8 had different hubs (bigger).

The car needs lowering to look better.. which will happen later on this month.

I think the black fender vent and the black turn signals cheapen the car quite a bit. Go back to SSM on the fender vent and some OEM 99 turn signals for a cleaner look IMO

Oh, and what Rich said ^

Ding ding ding..

You are almost right on..

I'm currently getting another set of OEM fenders painted and put 99 signals... When that's ready, the SSM vents will go on with it.

regarding the turn signals.. I'm sticking to these.

Rich, I don't think this car will make it to DGRR.. it runs but I'm waiting on another engine and doing some major swap.. It might require its own build thread.... In some ways, everything is getting changed out over time..

That's so funny, your car is almost identical to how mine was and is now. Same hood (although I had to modify mine for the 2J), '99 front, and VIS '99 OEM replica carbon-fiber spoiler from the looks of it.

I was actually thinking about doing the same rims on mine too, except the grey powder-coated ones that are on the 2010 R3's IIRC.

Your MB looks fantastic too, man. Magazine quality pictures right there.

Yoshi, I did think about R3s.. But those are 19s and 19s might be bit too big for the FDs. Hence I went with the 40th anni wheels...

ya gotta admit, the slight variation to the triangular shape on the r3s look better than the 40th anni ones.

at least that's what I think. its a more rounded, equilateral, rotary shape.

It does. If it was 18s and looked like that, I would definitely pick R3 over 40th.

I dont have the M's but I do have Blitz intake...

I'm not a huge fan of them... but thats also cause they are a very ugly brown color... and they have have stupid metal filters on them...

Update...

Not much has been going on.. I've had a chance to install the FEED coilovers on the FD.. which was a pain in the butt because I had to remove the roll bar.

I also installed the new door sills on the car..

And change the oil using my nifty pump.. I had this thing for about 10 years and its worth every penny! Changing oil every 500-1000 miles is an ease Yes, I change my oil that often..

Well, Not much to report since last time...

DGRR 2011 happened between last update and this time (which I didn't get to drive my FD as I got really sick).

This past weekend, I won best Mazda at an event.

And picture of my car got on the Yokohama Site..

Here are some recent pics of the car..

And I'm in a process of moving into a new house.. Here is a picture of one of the garage bay.. Much more room than my last place..

This morning, I got my rear brakes that I been wanting to try out for few years (Thanks Mike!)

Precision Brakes

Replacement rotor rings.

I have older Greddy/Alcon front BBK with custom DBA rotors and hats.. Going to use the PB rears with that set up. If that doesn't work, then I also have Racing Brake BBK.

The old RZ/Spirit R set up will go on the SSM FD.

whattt? your garage looks like a 1 car and i thought your last one was two? or are you hiding the rest of the garage! looks cool, what are the design plans for the garage? (assuming lift as in your previous posts) workbenches? etc?

garage modding is equally fun as modding cars!!! its addicting!

LOL! its actually has room for 2 car and there is another side to it.
I think total space I have (including storage rooms) is about 1200-1500 sq. ft.

My plan right now is to finish moving all my stuff... as of now, I'm 40-50% moved (its been 3 weeks already). I need to get some new lights (several over hang lights for detailing the car) and sometime this summer, 4 post lift.

I thought about re doing the floor before moving in, but since it will most likely get damaged during the move and such, I decided to not spend that money and do something else with it... ie, new work bench and tools.

Update...

Well, Past couple of days I had a chance to buy an unique 1974 Celica with a rotary. I actually decide to buy it (with permission from the wife), but it all crumble to sh*t when I went there to pick it up... The seller was trying to sell something that wasn't on his name.

Anyhow, good thing is that my car got featured in RE-Xtreme

http://rextreme.blogspot.com/2011/05...lues.html#more

Great site for us FD owners...

I've decided to go with the Bendpak.

But I'm having some issues though.. person who lived there before didn't quite think of me and put a storage room that will interfere with the lift. One of the wall is in line with the garage door and because of that, in order for me to have more room (and to open the door of the car easily), I need to knock down a section of the wall. Until I do this, I'm holding to purchase the lift. Right now, I'm still moving and picking up some shelves for parts storage (and getting my man cave in order). Will post some pics later.. I'm planning to finish moving this extended weekend.

I wish you lived closer too.. I'm currently trying to buy more shelves and maybe a work bench. I saw something at SAMS and looked pretty decent.
