My FD Build thread.
Story: I bought my 93 R1 March 2009 right before I deployed to Iraq. I had a rather bad vac leak, the car was currently running stock twins. So I had driven it two times or so before I had left. I had it at one shop, they werent getting the job done,. so I took it to National Speed in Wilmington NC. One of the best aftermarket shops in NC.
After I finish all my performance mods,. Im going to finish tidying up the interior and get the car re-painted to red to put an end to the McDonalds theme the previous owner had going on..
The Original plan was to use a Borg Warner turbo I had,. But It wasnt working out size wise and the shop didnt want to mess with the frame so I went with a different Turbo.

The big hold up was the oil system having way too much positive pressure. After thinking about it logically, drafting some input from some local rotary minds (thank you Matt Adams), Chris designed a good fix to our problem.
Essentially, the oil cap was tapped with 1/2" NPT threads, with a 1/2" NPT to -10AN 90degree fitting (everything past this point is -10AN), a breather line from the oil cap runs to a baffled Moroso breather tank, and a second breather line runs from the rear-location turbocharger oil-return passage.
This ultimately allows the left-side of the engine (i.e. oil-filler side) to breath, and the right-side of the engine (i.e. turbocharger side) to breath, eliminating the positive-pressure issue. After multiple pulls on the dyno, this proved to be the fix. No more oil puking.
Chris welded on two -10AN bungs for the two reference points...
The finished product...
The right-side breather reference...
On with the video!
On 7psi/.5bar creeping to 10psi/.7bar, very good numbers for that boost level.

We are rolling on the water/methanol injection system installation...
The FD3S sitting pretty (and begging for her new shoes)...
The illegal-substance injection system...
Where we're working...
(by the way, I wish those spares were full-sized, I'd definitely rock those on my Integra)
The aluminum mounting bracket Chris fabrication for the reservoir and pump...
Mounting it up...
Chris Crawford; officially immune to being kidnapped by someone driving an FD3S...
Mounted...
(the trunk area's aesthetics are not yet complete, some trimming and fitting still needs to be performed)
Lines and wiring being performed tomorrow.

moar!
Harness in place, ready for final installation...
Gauges installed...
I tried as best as I could to get a clear picture, sorry that this one is a bit blurry. We tried to match up the gauge lighting to the factory gauge illumination as closely as possible, it looks great...
Lights off...
A shot from the driver's view...
You might be wondering what that green light is; it's the methanol indicator. Whenever methanol is actively injected, this will illuminate...
The trunk area with the methanol mount installed...
The methanol solenoid...
The injection nozzle; on the throttle body elbow...

I've got some car-part **** for Florian here, of the new front-mount intercooler system, throttle body and coolant pipe...
Ooooo, what's all this?
Badass...
The front-mount intercooler...
It'll be a few business days before we can get it on the schedule for installation, but it's coming up shortly.

Back in for a bit of tie-up work...
Chris relocating the HKS EVC-6 to the console...
The HKS Type-1 turbo timer being mocked up for installation...
The new location for the HKS EVC-6...
We're waiting on the adapter harness to come in for the Type-1, after that it will be installed.
What's up next:
- Throttle body installation
- Front-mount intercooler system installation
- Mill wheels
- Final tune
- Road test
- Back to Flo Rida
We're going to miss having this car around the shop.

We'll see... You know how these damn Dorito engines are.
Anyway, a few more updates;
John verifying his trim work is perfect...
Fits perfect...
You can see from the rear view just how high the intercooler comes up into the bumper...
Finished engine bay...
Driver-side view...
Passenger-side view...
A little stepped back...
John, his work area, and the FD3S...
