^^^ I'm going to send money because it made me laugh. And some of us NEED a smile in my line of work. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the months that I have spent serving in Trashcanistan. Doesn't pay well enough either. Hopefully this is my last trip. But, I am getting free school and some SERIOUS experience for the "real world".

Jacob...that's annoying ^ haha.

Update! "Double check the check list and buttoning up the little things."

I think with larger "in depth" builds... it's easy to get lost in the to do list. What I mean by that is all the little things that go into a process. I think I've touched on this a few times here and there but I really feel like it is something that is often times overlooked....and it shouldn't be. When installing a sensor. You could simply get any old electrical crimping fitting crimp together two wires and it would work. ....OR you could pick out specifically gauged wire, ...make sure you have 3 separate colors for ground, power and signal.....measure it all out and plan it's routing, cut to length, use OEM style pins, use a good crimping tool to get a good solid secure connection, use heat shrink, and protect your wiring with braided covering. And that's what I mean by all the little things. In between these "little things" there is also clean up... which goes a long way in a garage with a ton of tools. Nothing is more frustrating than working on something and not being able to find a tool. I almost always hate helping friends work on their cars because I can never find a damn socket or extension etc. Messes up the flow haha. The smallest things such as throwing away all your clippings from the end of wires, or making sure to put extra bolts and hardware back into the bucket of bolts etc. Everyonce in a while its good to stand back and look at the car.... your reflection and admire it. If you don't admire it...maybe it's time to step it up?! I sometimes take a quick break to make some coffee and eat an apple or bowl of cereal. It's good to help clear the mind and freshen things up.

Saturday night was one of those nights. I worked from 7:00 pm till 4:30AM. But I am glad to report that I finished the following:

-Painted and mounted my Roof spoiler... yea yea I know some people would be angy I painted an OEM piece...but honestly..it'll be professionally painted anyhow in a few months so either way it's getting painted. Used 3M double sided and was amazed at how strong it holds... damn thing felt solid as ever on there.
- removed a vestal sticker haha..not very important but still something I had been meaning to do.
- hooked up the power/grounds/inputs to both Fuel pressure sensor/oil pressure sensors into the Innovate ssi-4 logging module
-hooked power to my Flex fuel sensor and routed all lines to it to make sure it didn't run anywhere sketchy.
- Covered all the above lines with Braided sleeving to make sure they are all protected
- Updated my Adaptronic ECU Firmware from 10 to 12.0 (newest software update) Excellent as I was able to see all my pressure sensors in the live gauge screen.
- Made changes to my old Map for my start-up base tune (swapped from 850cc inj to 1k prim) set up aux sensor inputs, flex fuel input, etc
- did a full Leak test on fuel system to make sure I had no injector seat leaks or fitting leaks
- re-aligned my front end because the front tires are just FARRR too large of a side-wall to run on the Weds 9.5's.
- Ordered a set of 225/35/18 Federal SS595's from a website that had them cheap as sin. total was like 178 Shipped for (2) new fronts.
- Fit all gates with the -npt to An adapter fittings I modded last week.
- Started planning the Borg Warner EFR Boost control solenoid power/signal wire routing
- Re-installed the UIM because I had forgot the gasket (newb mistake) and made sure it was securely fastened
-Organized my Gaskets and materials (studs etc) for the upcoming install of the Turblown Long runner Manifold
- Made a new To-do List

Anyways here are some pictures from the weekend.... Not too exciting...but this is what I feel is going to make the car much more solid in terms of being as reliable as possible. All of these little things will be worth it...pay-off come dyno/track time.

Sidewall is just too large 40 series

Used the un-used CAS plug for my Flex fuel input. I used a spare knock sensor plug and connector for this. ..de-pinned them and put new pins in.. makes things legit and I know it is a secure connection that will last a looooong time.

This was a problem I ran into.... the excessive LIM I purchased off a forum member here was stripped out completely. He forgot to mention that by the way.. Anyways..instead of making a fuss out of it.. I just decided to deal with it. These were two bolts I had tried and actually ended up NOT using either.. as I found a longer bolt. And so I'm not using the longer bolt WITH a nut to securely fasten the top most bolt that goes through the top of the UIM to secure it to the LIM.

I keep ALL of my information in a file on my tool-box. SO when I need to double check wiring or install something or even troubleshoot...it's all there. Searching for stuff online can get annoying...although I also have most Electronic Manuals downloaded onto my ecu as well lol
This was updating the firmware and making some easy peezy changes and starting to plan my EFR boost control solenoid wiring etc.

I'm on the same par with you on documentation.

That's part of the reason why I started a build thread. Sometimes i'll go back to look at what I did to see exactly how even I did it, lol.

Documentation is key when you're doing custom work.

Keep it up Aaron. I love watching your build and your persistence even when life gets in your way.

Small Update: "Haunted and Distracted"

Well I got home from work yesterday and started planning my attack as far as things to get done and I kept seeing a thin white box under my table that I couldn't for the life of me remember what was for. I started a quick clean up and saw it again. Then my roommate came home and we chatted for a few quick moments and I turned back to my tool box ...and there it was again...Haunting me. I threw my gloves off and grabbed the damn box and opened it. What do ya know... A brand new crispy looking Power steering cooler. I had all but forgotten about this thing, but It beckoned for a home on the wolf. I said screw it and knew exactly where I wanted it. Figured I would put it right on top of my Intercooler ducting. Now, I've decided to keep the Aluminum snake that runs from the p/s up to the reservoir additionally just for the added capacity... this also eliminates a lot of work for me because I don't have to duct the p/s cooler. I was going to at first....but it really isn't needed IMO (correct me if I'm wrong). So here is the Install of my Power Steering Cooler.

Used the OEM tube and cut it up for routing of the line from the snake to the cooler

I know this is un-necessary...but I can't STAND leaks. So I put a little High Temp Honda-bond RTV on the end just to make sure nothing sneaks past. Seems as if everyones P/S leaks on their fd's..I don't wanna be one of them.

this is the ugliest hardline in existence. I'm looking for more tube but this was all I had for the time being. So I used it for mocking purposes. It'll be replaced soon enough with a nice piece.

So my next question is How much Pressure does the reservoir side of the P/S pump see? I know there is a High pressure line from the actual pump to the rack...but out of the rack to the aluminum snake...OEM utilizes simple hose and clamp configurations for the lines. I don't want it to leak... But should I be using Worm clamps or the simple OEM style clamps? Any Input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much guys!

More Updates soon!

Stay tuned!!

Small Update:

Didn't get a whole lot of visual stuff done yesterday. But I was able to:
Raise the rear suspension an inch
Install my UIM fully, tps hook up, throttle cable routing and install
Wire in the built in EBC solenoid pig tail for the BW EFR 8374 to the adaptronic ecu
Hook up some Vac line's to an array of components
do a bit of planning for the Vacuum routing for the dual Turbosmart comp gate 40's
Found this and I'm thinking this is what i'll do unless anyone has any valid reasons to do it differently haha

It's important to install everything where you think you want it...then re-adjust.. and again when the turbo is actually installed. Don't want to re-do things more than a couple times...but plan on making adjustments and don't tq everything down right away...this'll save time.

Put the engine to mani gaskets on and secured everything. Now that I did this...if I were to do it again... I would've installed the turbo ON the manifold before installing the manifold to the engine. It was only a bit of a hassle to get to the Inconel nut at about 4 o clock in this pic.

meh ^ i'm still disappointed in myself a bit because I know I have the drive to make anything happen. But the car is going to rip either way....and this way I don't need to guess..or even worry about any R & D or failures etc.

yeah, let somebody else blaze the trail and have higher risk (like i did with the efr IWG -- the scary moment when i thought the boost was uncontrollable) and just enjoy the damn car.

Dude - you have to constantly watch out for yourself and don't sell yourself short. Most people are not confident about themselves and tend to accept less than they could get.

I sense some unresolved issues with your father (who I think died a few years back). Move on, you only have a limited time on this planet; make the best of it. If your dad was a dick for not being around to watch you play then forget about him. Just make sure you don't repeat that with your son.

And goddamn it finish this car so I can stop checking on your build. I'm going to start calling you Jim LaPrick if you don't finish this car in 2014.

I've spent the past 2-1/2 years working at the same exact highschool I graduated from....the same school I won CIF at, the same school where I held good grades all 4 years, the same school I truly loved and was proud of my entire life. I've spent the past 2 and a half years developing a positive reputation. I head the entire boys soccer team which had always been the best in the golden league up until 4-5 years ago where it nose dived. Last year the team got dead last, I had to remove 6-7 players from the program due to grades and bad attitudes. This year was my second year and we went from dead last to tied for 4th and we lost the final play-off spot in a coin toss. I worked an Emotionally disturbed classroom for 3 and one half weeks which happened to be the most stressfull 3 and 1/2 weeks of my life. The previous teacher had quite because a student threatned to cut her and spit in her face. I took that class and I handled it just fine. I was able to score a roving sub (full-time)position here at this school which I took in a heart beat because it was only going to help my reputation. A whole new administration comes in this year. I send a couple e-mails because it seems as if i'm expected to teach an algebra 1 class, maintain and up-keep 3 of our new computer labs and prevent any vandalism in them, and fill in period subbing all at once so I was trying to get some clarification as to what my priority is and All the sudden my reputation is squandered. I'm shunned off when I walk in the admin building and frankly not one of the people over me probly have anything but bad to say about me for no other reason than one of the administrators in my school thinks I went over her head and tried to get her in trouble. Well she just happens to be the principles wife's best friend...Never mind that she has 4 other grievances filed against her. So lets contact the district office... OH wait the principles mother in law is the person i'd contact. ...so let me go to another at the district office.... Oh waite there are 3 others related in those positions. So once again I have people related to other people ruining things for me simply because they keep it all in the family. I work 3 jobs, and I've never done anything in my life halfway. Everything I do I do with 100% of my heart and I go above and beyond what I can to move forward in a positive manner. No one speaks of the kid I got a 75% scholarship to Fresno Pacific last year, or the Kid I helped all last summer to get ready for season this year free of charge and now he's going to college on scholarship, or the countless other kids I'm helping NOT fall victim to the same circumstances I fell victim to. I go into the admin building yesterday to talk to the athletics vp about next years soccer schedule starting early and some of the things I and the director (who is retiring from 25+ years because of this new admin) have planned. And he tells me I need to find out if i'll even be coaching at this school next year because I can't coach the team if I'm not an employee here. (that's a lie because I started as coach there without being an employee). So now they're taking the soccer team away. My question is how is it possible that you can literally do as much as possible to do a real life good job.....and just get screwed. I've been researching other careers and have thought about pulling out of the credential program I enrolled into this next fall just because I don't want to deal with this BS "All in the family' Crap. But right now..im honestly just feeling really under the weather. Everything I've worked for the past couple years just trashed by a handful of real life Jerks without the ability to reason and or respect what is really going on. I probably should even be writing this in public because everything I write tends to back-fire....but honestly. I just don't give a **** anymore. I wish real life journalists would cover what is going on in my district because it would make headlines for sure. Updates on my build? Yea I got some fittings in and I'm pretty much giving up on my manifold.

And goddamn it finish this car so I can stop checking on your build. I'm going to start calling you Jim LaPrick if you don't finish this car in 2014.

I'm actually very content with the relationship I had with my father. I understand the situation and I really don't hold any remorse or i'll feelings towards him. I do however wish he could've seen me play a good game. Because to my knowledge, all he knew about my soccer career was that game....and it was an absolute nightmare of a game. I do agree with you on the topic of future family and how I am towards them

The car will run soon!!! Hopefully I can get this Down-pipe made and the gate dumps complete this weekend. Although Top drift rnd 2 is this weekend and I know i'll be out there mixed with some other stuff sat and sunday. =-) Thanks for the kind words and insight, I do respect and appreciate everyone on here who has offered kind words and kept the encouragement!!!

Something just seems kind of upsetting that all this hard work/ time/ money goes into the car just to wreck it drifting. I get that it's your car and all that, I just have a hard time understanding the whole drift culture I guess.

Just out of curiosity, did you grow up listening to bands like BTBAM, poison the well, The faceless, thrice, misery signals, new age metal/metalcore? Ride BMX or skate/surf/snowboard/wakeboard? Spend time at the beach doing whatever the hell? And more importantly when were you born? Not attacking you, just trying to explain as to why....

Umm, a little personal but I'll give you my bio I guess. I'm 22, currently a business student at a local university doing the accounting concentration. I do like metal, but have a fairly eclectic musical taste as far as rock/ metal goes, from Incubus, to Alice in Chains to At the Gates, to Dimmu Borgir. Deftones? I love Deftones. I've never been on a surfboard in my life and I used to own a skateboard I donated to a friend of mines bulldog. I'm not sure if you are trying to belittle me or what your intent was, but I think you have me stereotyped incorrectly. This is your build thread after all, apologies for the distractions.

I apologize if I seemed as if I was being disrespectful, ....definitely wasn't my intent. Not trying to belittle you or talk down to you in any way shape or form. I've just noticed that practically everyone I grew up with who was into the things I listed above...whether or not I have stayed in contact with them or not...gravitated to drift cars. I have one buddy I used to play music with. We were never in a band together but he would always come over and jam out. He moved up to Oregon and we re-connected last year sometime...he's into drift cars. Another example... My good friend Micki frial... I used to ride my bike over to his house a couple blocks away when I was 7. we were on the same baseball team but we loved riding bikes. we rode bmx together here and there when I was 15-16 but I moved across town and lost contact with him for 8-9 years. The next time I saw him I was cruising down the blvd in my Fd and he about flipped his lid in excitement,.... He has a pro-am car and obtained his Formula drift license by winning out in top drift a couple times. My point was really just that these specific types of people kinda gravitated towards drift cars. Kinda like a natural progression. I wasn't always into death metal with screaming... hell I was like "what the hell is the vocalist doing?." But I heard Between the buried and me's song "mordacai" on a summer sampler senior year wayyy back in 02-03 and couldn't believe the sound I was hearing.. vocals took a back seat and the instruments sang to me more than ever. Before I knew it....I was mouthing the words screamed by all these deathmetal bands. Just another example of the natural progression....and the personality traits that kinda pushed me into this direction. Hope this explains things better and I apologize if I came off the wrong way.

manny i think he got ya there, buddy.

and 7speed guy, many of us are not-quite-as-outspokenly hoping manny transcends and brings this sweet build/setup FD to some HPDEs/trackdays/timetrials. "to each his own" though, as they say.
