the best part about stumbling late on a thread this is I get to Fast forward to all the good parts.... seem's like all the work was done in 25mins.. lol...
Great job... loving the Gold... I wanted to do the same under hood with some gold accents. Once my motor pop's I'll prob do it. buy the looks of it your not making deals gap are u??? would be dope if u could

Let me start of by saying this build is shaping up nicely, seems like you've put a lot of thought....and cash into this build haha. It's nice to finally see some people buying quality parts.
Do you want the gold for looks or performance? There's a better product out there that actually reflects more then that fake gold stuff he put on. I'm not knocking it, but it's not the same stuff you see on a McLaren by far haha. The stuff I used reflects something like 96 percent of heat, it's a shiny finish though not gold colored.
Is it me or does this pump assembly sit a lot lower than the one you just purchased? There seems to be a lot more space between the top of the bump assembly and the bottom of the bulkhead.

Here's what pegasus has to say about the product:
Our Gold Reflective Film has excellent heat reflective characteristics, yet it is very thin and easy to install. Capable of reflecting 78% of all radiant heat while withstanding continuous operating temperatures of 675° Fahrenheit (357° C) for a minimum of 8 hours.
"Made from metalized polyamide polymer laminated glass cloth, with a special high temperature pressure sensitive adhesive. This film is very lightweight at only 5 ounces per square yard, and is easy to apply. The minimum air gap to heat source is just 1mm."
Self Adhesive Gold Reflective Film/Barrier
This car won't be started on another intake manifold,....I assure you I will have dyno graphs for all when the time comes to tune

Scrub..... Yes this one looks like it sits quite a bit lower than the one I purchase from Cj'motorsports. I think he must've made some custom spacers or something? I dunno. I'll be using the spacers provided and after more research..going with 2 90's and using a spiral like fuel hose to make fit. If i'm unhappy with it...i'll simply fix it till i think it's "worthy/safe."

Here's the only place I've found that sells the stuff. I think it was about $25 per lineal foot.

The reflective tape I am using is for performance...the beautiful side affect is just a plus. This is by no means "Fake Gold Stuff," although there is fake stuff out there... I did my research and purchased the right stuff from pegasus racing. It my no means reflects 96% of heat.. more like 70ish. I've actually got both the gold and silver thermal adhesive's on my car. I believe when I was shopping for the film my e-mail back from Pegasus said the brand was "HRP" if i'm not mistaken, been a while though. Gold on the fire-wall and Silver in the tranny tunnel

btw, maybe you should contact full function about longer spacers, if the fuel pickup ins't at or near the same level as the stock pump sits you'll run out of fuel before your tank is actually empty haha. Hopefully that makes sense. Also does that bracket not have provisions for the fuel level sensor?

well... i'm not so sure what the stuff your using is made of but the stuff I'm using was about 30-32 bucks a sq ft. Other than the cost.. I chose it because time attack teams use it and have had good success with it![Icon Tup](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/icon_tup.gif)
Full function engineering didn't supply the actual pump assembly..Cj-Motorsports has been making the pump for years with the correct hanger pump depth
The OEM float attatches to a bracket supplied with the assembly

Bit of an update. Me and my buddy Matt dug into my body harness once again. I labeled every loose connector so we knew exactly what we'll need and won't need. Anything were not sure about.. we'll leave on the harness. Going through it after you spend the time to actually label all the connectors helped a lot. I not only know the complete wiring color coding almost by heart..but I know how to read through the god aweful mazda wiring diagram with ease. Think of it as a valuable life lesson...self learned (the best way to learn). Anyways heres my buddy Matt doing his thing:
![](http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG0420.jpg)
Got some parts in: All fuel fittings from Full-Function Engineering
![](http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG0416.jpg)
Exhaust Manifold Flange from Sean at A-Spec Tunning... Great guy! thanks Sean!! Now we can get my manifold mocked up!!
![](http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG0422.jpg)
Used Bride Seat rails.. I was worried about the height for a little bit after setting it up i'm pretty certain I'll have room with my helmet on... Not much..but enough till I can get the brackets altered slightly.
![](http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG0423.jpg)
Test Fit
![](http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG0426.jpg)
All the way back..still have about a half inch![Icon Tup](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/icon_tup.gif)

![](http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG0430.jpg)
Test fitted my full function Engineering Prim rail..and believe me..anyone with doubts as to running the cut and trimmed Injector diffusers without using the tighter machined metal adapters can take it from me when I say they're study as hell. The seats on the spacers that tie into the underside of the rail make things nice and snug..there will be NO movement. What a gem of a rail
cant wait for the Secondary!!

Also....I've run into a problem...and hopefully a solution. The UIM runs into the Power steering unit. There's no way I want to go manual. I've felt manual cars before and although it has it's place... It just doesn't seem like something I want to deal with. Therefore I'll be keeping the unit. But it needs to be relocated. so I pulled out a spare bracket and pump I had laying around and started measuring. I got the idea from a Dragon Performance car over in the UK. But I simply measured the mounting holes.. made sure it would line up correctly and drilled a hole and cut the bottom off of the whole PS mount. Here's the prototype:
![](http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG0431.jpg)
![](http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG0437.jpg)

![](http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG0437.jpg)
I'll be needing to relocate my Oil filler neck as well. It's a little bit of work but it'll be worth it in the end. I'm going to make sure the PS pump is perfectly aligned with the other pullies before I attempt the mod on my good bracket. More updates soon

It's called aero-lite reflective tape. I did a lot of research in heat reflective foil before settling on this stuff. From what I can gather the only thing that performs better is the real deal gold foil. Here's a decent thread about various heat barriers. I know internet forums aren't always the best source of information, but you can form your own opinion ![Wink](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Coast Fab sells Aerolite and is a convenient option for those in socal who wish to will call.

Anyways haha... I just spent a good 3 hours figuring out I could re-install my wedge clip and ring. Forgot to mention it pulled out with the ring..and when Ipulled it out... it came out at an angle.. I was able to put it back in with a slight modification. But also..I put it back in the exact way i accidently popped it out.. at an angle. Popped back in..and havnent engaged the Clutch yet..but I'll do it tomorrow. I'll most likely put the car on the ground tomorrow. FIrst time in MONTHS!! and MONTHS!!!

also got a couple more fittings in... But looks like i'll be needing one more for my Fuel Pressure Regulator... I have a 1n-6 90 degree fitting but need a -6 an male to screw it into. so i'll have to order one for it. But my Aeromotive push loc hose came in. This stuff is rad!! Love it!! AND FOR CHRISTS SAKE IS THERE AN OPTION TO NOT GET FREE JEGS HATS?!!! I HAVE 3 NOW!!.. and i feel horrible throwing away perfectly good outer wear...

Due to the length of the Bosch pumps and how close they come to the tank flange, the lines generally have to be looped around.
If the bulkhead fittings lined up directly above the Bosch outlets, it would be simpler. But the outer-most pumps output fitting hangs too far outside, and it would hit the lip of the gas tank. So the bulkhead cannot be there anyway.
We are in the process of updating the designs of all of our RX7 products and features as we prepare to manufacture another large batch in the next couple weeks. This twin pump hanger is next to be revisited and go under the knife. We want to see if we can shift around the pump positions to make the Bosch assemblies much easier to build and install. This current unit was based on the Walbro twin hanger, and just adjusted for the Bosch. So we will be adjusting the unit with them as the first priority, and all the new modern pumps will be an easy after-thought fit as they are much smaller. We hope to get the Bosch version to be very simplified versus its current model. We do also have a seperate fuel pump assembly with integrated surge tank for road racing on backburner design... but thats off-topic.
#695
The road-race fuel pump assembly setup probably wont offer Bosch pumps as an option. They are rather large and low output (and expensive) compared to more modern designs that are available, such as the Walbro 400. There is also an upgraded model of the Walbro 400 coming out very soon now that has even higher output (460lph I *believe*) and is engineered specifically as an E85 compatible pump for OEM lifespan when using that fuel. The large Bosch pumps would consume valuable displacement in the surge-tank without offering any extra value to the products function. However, it may be a possibility, pending some design specifications when we get there. The entire theory of the product is in testing and updating on another platform at the moment. Once we believe it is refined enough for production, we will begin putting the design theory to work for the FD RX7 fuel tank dimensions. The FD does have more real estate to offer via a larger fuel tank access opening, so perhaps we can make space for a Bosch option... but I am not sure if it will be worth the effort.
