Okay so I got the motor installed and everything was going just fine until I went to push the clutch-fork into the pressure plate to engage the input shaft to the wedge collar. For some reason I wasn't thinking much and I pried the wedge collar out from the pressure plate entirely instead of just pushing the clutch fork foreward for engagement. Now the wedge collar is completely out of the pressure plate. So I'm kind of stuck..but just looking at it I'll most likely need to pull the motor and trans back apart to re-install it.. Not looking forward to it but i'm hoping I don't need to purchase new wedge clip and ring. But with things like this... if I forced it out with a flat head screwdriver..i'm sure I damaged it. Can you just bend these things back? anyone done this successfully? Anyways... motor is in for now. Next week=Fab time

If it is bent I would not recommend "un bending it". I would be concerned with the throw out bearing coming out of the pressure plate when you are driving. It definitely would not be fun to try to push it back in on the side of the road. It cant be much money, and to me it would be worth it to replace it just for a bit more reassurance so I do not have to take the motor out again.

But I guess you can see what it looks like when you take it out.

Also, I just noticed that you installed the motor before painting the engine bay; isnt that a bit backwards

Everywhere i've looked its about 40 bucks and another 35ish for the ring. anyone know anywhere I could find it cheaper?

Yes.. I installed the motor before painting the engine bay so I can get my manifold mocked up and done. I'm doing a custom turbo manifold and v-mount of my design and need to be exact as possible to make it the way I want it. Not such a big deal, i've seen professional paint jobs done with motors in the bay so no...not backwards at all. My transmission tunnel and firewall will be masked off because they are already finished. Nothing will be put onto the fender wells or any other area that needs paint.

Picked up my passenger side seat this morning. Memory Fab S68... I am Very impressed with the quality of this seat. The carbon looks excellent! and it's a pretty Damn comfortable seat. I'm 6'1ish 175 lbs... and this seat seems to fit just right. Waiste size 32-33.. Broadish chested.. Shoulder bolsters arent pushing too far forward like a lot of smaller seats. Hell of a deal on the seat though... i'd definitely rec this seat to those looking for a good quality seat on a budget.

I'll post pics when photobucket stops acting like an emo kid..

I feel your pain.. I feel damn lucky to live in california! I once read that your more likely to find rare and hard to find atermarket japanese parts here in Southern California than in japan itself. I'm gonna have to say I believe it

set up my Dual Bosch 44's (Courtesy of FULL FUNCTION ENGINEERING).... need to get a few more fittings so I can plump them up. Was thinking about going with hard lines..but after looking at it... It just seems like a royal pain in the ***. What made me opt out was that It seems like I would need to get the measurements almost exact because if i came up too short... it wouldnt reach..a little too long and I would end up putting a reverse-like tension on the line and fittings themselves, which to me just doesn't sit will in my stomach. Thinking about running 2x 90 degree an push loc fittings on each pump and doing a nice little coil upwards from the pump to the bulk-head.
heres what i'm working with:

also got matching springs in for my Synapse 50mm Wastegates. Green = 60lb main springs and 60lb preload springs as well. Thanks agfmoto for all the information in helping me set up the gates in the first place.

2x Synapse 60lb Main springs, 2x60lb preload springs:

1h30m later....I caught up on the last 22 pages of this build thread. Amazed yet again at your level of craftsmanship and dedication to the little things. Congrats.

Like I said back in May, threads like this make me want to start another FD project....and I just sent the money out yesterday to begin a max built FD again. So, for now I thank you Manny for such an inspirational thread....but when my wife gets all pissed off at the amount of time and money that I spend on this car, I'm sending her to Palmdale since it's your fault. lol

Did you buy that intake manifold setup from John (allrotor93)? It looks like the same setup that was on silvr94r2's FD....

Before:

I just bought his old car for my build. 94 Silver R2 13k miles....gutted tin can. At least I can put my gold foil on easier since there is nothing to take off. lol

Yes sir!! ^ you know it's crazy the way parts change hands.. I always wonder who had been holding most of the pieces that have made their way onto my car. Everything I can get second hand in good condition.. I have.. In the long run it has saved me quite a bit of money. Either way.. it's going to cost and has cost me thus far a LOT of money. Wheeling and dealing is your best bet. But looks like your starting with a solid clean shell=-)

Obviously you have not bought enough parts then, my girlfriend doesn't even ask how much any more.

Also, FYI, Goodfellafd3s owned that UIM as well.

Another FYI, AFIK, it is impossible to make hardlines for the dual 044 setup and install them into the tank. The lines have to be looped inorder for the assembly to fit in the tank.

My wife doesn't ask either...it would just **** her off. Ignorance in bliss when it comes to cars. She has her BA in Economics and working on her Masters in Finance....my car habit is like nails on a chalkboard for her.

I just tell her that it will be good for our boys to grow up loving cars, and we will always have that bond between father and sons for the rest of our lives....she's a sucker for that idea, which is how I get away with it when every analytical bone in her body says no...her emotional side says "fine". Score 1 for the home team. So for those of you with children at home, that line works wonders. Plus, I do honestly mean it when I say it which makes me not feel bad about setting my money on fire.

I am not saying it is impossible to make hard lines. I am saying that from what I have read, the person who made that was unable to install it. But I have never tried to do it myself so I can not confirm that.

hmmm from what I've read the only hard part was getting the float attatched and the install itself. But the member above...who'se name escapes me at the time being was running this pump set-up.

In other terms..... i'm trying to decide whether i'm going to need 2 check valves on the pumps or not. I havn't heard or read much on rotaries etc..although i'm not sure it matters. But i did read somewhere that it is a good idea. We will see.

Let me start of by saying this build is shaping up nicely, seems like you've put a lot of thought....and cash into this build haha. It's nice to finally see some people buying quality parts.

Do you want the gold for looks or performance? There's a better product out there that actually reflects more then that fake gold stuff he put on. I'm not knocking it, but it's not the same stuff you see on a McLaren by far haha. The stuff I used reflects something like 96 percent of heat, it's a shiny finish though not gold colored.

Is it me or does this pump assembly sit a lot lower than the one you just purchased? There seems to be a lot more space between the top of the bump assembly and the bottom of the bulkhead.

What's the heat reflector called?
