Great build going on. I wish having an FD. I had a black touring, now I just have a wrecked shell of a red touring. I need about $25K to turn it into a track beast.
BTW, I can second that notion on the teflon tape. I was going to say that when I saw it, pages back.

Not the biggest update: Just got some parts and have some things in the works.
Exedy Twin disc for the win... this was a big purchase milestone in the build. Means i can get the car rolling shortly!!
Got more 3M Dinoc Done. But honestly... I screwed up. I rodered the dinoc from some guy in Malaysia haha.. I spent 3 hours doing a real careful job and realized when I was done that the finish on the DINOC was satin instead of the "Dry" look.... SOB. So you can't really tell in the dark.. but it really bothers me. I'll most likely keep in for now.. but i'll eventually sell this one and get another one to cover with the 3m dry carbon Dinoc. It came out good though! ....just the finishe is different from my shifter consol haha.
and got sick of seeing such a pretty motor look so bland.. so I just had to change it up a little. Nothing too fancy.. just good ol black high temp engine enamel.
it took me a good hour and a half of masking off the housings etc to get it right but it came out good. and Im happy with it.
Thats all for now. I'll be installing my clutch maybe tonight after work or something. We'll see. nothing too exciting but each step gets me a little bit closer.. so i'll share my pics when I get it completed!!

Install pics... I'm pretty good at following directions....but if you guys see anything out of the ordinary then please let me know as it's my first multi-plate clutch install
Made a make shift "stop," to keep the flywheel from turning
The Install tool is very useful...
Can't go wrong with Tq Specs
I was thinking maybe I should put some lock-tight on the bols from flywheel to engine and from plates to flywheel....But I figured i should be just fine torquing them to spec. ...but maybe I should've read the instructions all the way through. What do you guys think?
And the beauty of exedy that is the twin plate clutch
My next and last Large part purchase will be Wheels so I can get my lady rolling and to the fab shop for manifold and V-mount The only other big component I need and by Big I categorize by $500 or more.....will Be seats. I've gotten to see the Cobra Racer Pro seats in a few different cars. ANd although I would love to go the recaro route.. it's just not justifiable in my opinion. Hell a pair of seats cost me the price of a rolling shell...
Anyways.. It'll be a few weeks till I save enough money for wheels. But I'd like to get the engine bay painted in the next 2 weeks. And my body harness completely finished as well. We'll see how everything falls into place

"recently picked up an engine built by howard"
don't hesitate to call me on the engine if you have any questions re build/tune.
Aaron, the motor looks good dressed up.

thank you for the offer howard, will definitely be getting in touch with you in the near future.
the motor hasn't even been ran yet, it was my close friend james w. from Tustin, CA motor.
I think I'm going to running a very similar setup to what James had in mind.

Howard...thanks for all the help as well. The Exedy was definitely good buy.
Meanwhile I've got a list of little things that I kind of half ***'d for the time being. one of them was a bad "half ***" My tranny drive-shaft seal. The one that sits around the driveshaft spline and keeps tranny fluid lubbing the spline and not lubbing the road. Its cracked...entirely. Although it sits in the groove flush etc.. i have yet to fill my tranny with fluid. Can I get away with not replacing it? or will it ooze fluid all over?

Make an assessment...

Depending on how bad it's cracked, it will probably at least seep fluid. They're not that expensive and it's pretty easy to change. Do you already have the driveshaft in and everything? Is that why you're not wanting to replace it now? Honestly, as clean as you're doing this build and as thorough as you've been, I think you'll be kicking yourself later for not replacing it now, probably even if it doesn't leak lol. I replaced mine a few months ago because it was so old it had hardened and wasn't really sealing anymore. I'd just replace it now if I were you.

been watching this for a good while now; only one suggestion i have is to paint the alloy otherwise it will get SUPER dirty REALLY quick and you'll hate yourself for it, even if you just paitn it with aluminum coloured paint, its just everytime you touch it with dirty hands itll mark and look ****. other than that, awesoem build mate keep it up.

Also..... for the past couple weeks i've been working with Ryan Basseri at Rywire to help develope a Mil-spec Harness for our cars. What I ended up with...was an engine harness that surpassed all my expectations. I really can't believe this harness came out so well. I opted for the minimalist approach with just the bare essentials for this harness with no aftermarket wires etc in there. But anything could have been added and ryan would have had no trouble making it happen. I have a couple pics..but i'll do a little feature on it asap. Also..rywire has become an official vendor here on the forum!! So Welcome from Rx7Club!!!!
...mil spec quick disconnect for easy engine pulls...Hell Yea!! Thanks much Ryan!!
This is the harness...about 95% Complete. But over-all this is what the harness will look like with a couple exceptions (where the zip ties are).
